I want to be a Head Football Coach. Football is the greatest sport in the world and my life revolves around the sport. This is a general application attachment I send with my coaching applications. This is a read only model. I have another full slide show to present during the interview process.

A letter from your next Head Football Coach,
Our time is now! I am writing this letter to express my interest in the head coach position
for football. Football is a passion. The sport attracted me from the time I was a young boy.
Nothing is a better representation of a team sport than football, in which one places multiple
personalities together to conquer one goal. The main component to success is the head coach. A
coach is only as good as his other coaches, players, and community.
I played for AA State qualifying Liberty High School in Bealeton, VA. Not only did I
serve as team caption, but I was a three year varsity starter. I won multiple district, regional, and
state awards for skills in competition. I contribute all early success in my football years to the
skills and values I learned in high school. As a head coach, I plan to create a culture of winning
to become successful, not only in a sport, but in life. After high school graduation, I moved on to
become a four year letterman at Shippensburg University, where I continued the winning
traditions by playing for a nationally ranked #1 defense in 2004 for all of Division II football.
Our team finished with a PSAC Conference Title in 2004. I completed my playing career with
the utmost respect for the game and was fortunate enough to be added to the coaching staff the
following spring.
I grew close to the coaching staff while playing and continued the relationship into the
following years as an Assistant Defensive Line Coach. I worked closely with coordinators and
the head coach on game planning and practice objectives. Through these gracious and
knowledgeable men, I had the ability to learn more about the game than I did while playing.
From this coaching staff, I learned the finer points of what it takes to create a winning
atmosphere. The biggest influence for the passion and desire of the game came from the
player/coach and coach/coach relationship developed with Mark Maciejewski, the current
Shippensburg University Head Coach. We worked closely together to take ideas on paper and
transition them to the playing field with the ability to drive any student of the game.
Coaching three seasons at Big Spring and one year at Carlisle has been a wonderful
experience. Transitioning my coaching style from the college level to high school football, all
while continuing the passion, was a challenge that I met head-on. I knew my personal goals for
high school football included preparing the young athletes for the college level where I had
previously worked and will work again through my commitments. The student-athletes, who are
not only learning football, but also learning life lessons throughout each football session.
Committed players really bought into the culture change it takes to becoming a winning
program. I want to further drive the culture change in the community I will represent. It takes
winning attitudes, persistent athletes, and constant attention to detail to become Champions.
Nothing is impossible with the will to succeed. I can lead this program, with the help of a great
staff, to become a force in divisional play and consistent playoff contenders.
Diversity is abundant in the world we live in today. I am the change that is necessary for
success. When you select the football coaching staff, I would like to be considered based on my
experience, enthusiasm, and passion for the sport. It would truly be an honor to be a head coach.
No complacency comes with a title. Nothing would make me work harder for our football
program and our community than being the leader of the next football era.
Thank you,
Brandon Cook

Coaching Philosophy
My mission is create a winning program through young men who possess the drive to succeed.
The ultimate goal of a football program is to have the student body and community be proud of the
program at all times, both on and off the football field. Commitment, passion, discipline, and integrity
will be the core values the entire program will be built upon. Trust between the coaches and players is a
must and will create the family atmosphere needed to be successful.
To be a champion, you need to act like a champion. You need to prepare like a champion. You
need to practice like a champion. Expectations of our players are to work towards our goal
(CHAMPIONSHIP) in all areas including: in the classroom first and for most, the weight room, on the
football field, and in our community. All Players and Coaches are expected to show tremendous
leadership and dedication to each other and the program. To create an atmosphere of pride and to
teach each player the importance of attitude, confidence, character, knowledge, goal setting, and how
these factors apply to life as well as football.
Coaches will always support each other. All disagreements will occur behind closed doors and
settled face to face by the coaches involved. Coaching staff will attend a weekly game planning meeting.
Coaches will be positive and supportive of all players. At all times, any statements or attitudes will
demonstrate confidence. There will be no negative statements, sarcasm, or cynicism. Everyone will be
treated fairly. Matters concerning player infractions will be handled by the head coach. Each player will
be treated with respect and as an individual. Correcting players will always be done in a positive
manner. If a player thinks he can do it and has been reaffirmed that he can do it, he will do it each play.
Players must be so well-schooled in fundamentals that they are free to execute at an emotional high
without fear of making a mistake. Inconsistent play is caused by mental, not physical, break down. Must
be very emotional and totally enthusiastic about coaching but always in complete control of their
emotions. We take players to their limits and saturate them with positive motivation as we work to
develop total dominance on the football field. Motivated players are successful players.
Offensive strategy will be balanced in both the run and pass. We want to make our opponents
cover the entire football field and guess what will happen next. Tone setting and controlling the game
pace. Tempo to clock management, we will be able to play no huddle schemes when wanted, or slow
the pace to close the game. We will be multidimensional in our attack and allow the quarterback to
caption the offense with audible capabilities. Physical, fast, sound attack at all times.
Defensive strategy is based on disrupting the flow of the opposing offense. We will set the tone
with physicality. Forcing mistakes through alignment and disguise. We will be effective against the run
and pass with the ability to adjust to different sets, shifts, motions, and personnel. Alignment and
assignment are the foundation. Turnovers are the keys to being a great team defense. Physical, fast,
sound attack at all times.
Special teams’ strategy will be a threat each time on the field. Keeping our opponents on their
heels not knowing what could happen. Most important part of any football game and can be the
difference between and win or loss. Multiple looks with the same basic fundamentals of execution.
Ability to adjust field position with each special team used. Physical, fast, sound attack at all times.
All Forms of Offense and Defensive sets will be based on the ability of personnel available.

Mission Statement
Confidence through Commitment
Life is always changing, our time is now! The
world we live in creates unnecessary boundaries
limiting the ability of all age groups to choose for
themselves. Diversity is abundant in the creation of
any culture. To change a culture, the boundaries
must be broken. A true leader does not conform to
the social needs of a community, instead takes
charge involving himself as the foundation to create
the change.
Coach will not be a boss and rule with an iron
fist. A leader will rise up and guide the way to
success. Culture will be created through caring about
character, team, staff and community. Consistent
decision making is a premium attribute to being
professionally calm and motivationally intense. A
balanced lifestyle will create physical, mental, and
personal confidence. Confidence through the
commitment of a coach, through the commitment of
his players and through the commitment of their
community.

Staffing Strategy
You are only as good as the company you choose. I am the
leader not the boss. There is a difference, I will work with my staff and
not just direct. Coaching staff will be built of individuals that have the
same outlooks on life and expectations from football. We must be a
complete unit that is easily identified by our professionalism. We will
demand respect from our opponents through knowledge and
preparation. They must accept duties to their positional group, team,
school, and community with pride. We are accountable for all success
and failure is not an option. Losing is not a failure, it is a lack of
preparation and development. We will not fail on the field, in the
community, or in developing outstanding young men. Major focus
placed on transitioning student-athletes into their life after football.
Loyalty is demanded and opinions are welcomed at all times.
Coaches will have the ability to run their respective positions and
groups. The respect to players will be given, it will also be earned. The
Coordinators will be the backbone for all game planning material. All
staff will support decisions made for the program and will not discuss
program information outside our circle. We will communicate
effectively with all support staff, teachers, parents and respond to all
community needs. Confidence through commitment.
Our vision will be clear. Our hearts will be full.
Our time is now!

Confidence through Commitment
Culture is created with all variables of a program coming together as one entity. The coaches and
staff will have a direct impact on each player on the program roster. It is the players who will decide
whether the culture is adaptive to the success of the program. We will guide all players in the
development on the field to achieve great results. We will guide all players off the field to be successful
in the classroom and obtain a degree. We will guide all players in every aspect of life to help develop
responsible young men to become leaders for our future. The sport of football brings out all aspects of a
man and who he will become. We vow as coaches, to do everything within our power and presence, to
be the example of life. Players will have guidelines they are responsible for if they choose to be a part of
the program. They must meet and exceed all expectations set forth by the coaching staff to create a
championship caliber program. Any violations of these expectations, will have consequences in both
individual and team results. This will be the player’s team, player’s culture to be developed, and the
player’s community. Expectations are as follows:
Respect must be given at all times to teammates, coaches, support staff, family, school
personnel, and community.
Do not disgrace the culture of the program through your actions outside of football. You will
have eyes watching you at all times being a member of the football team.
Promote our program in a positive manor at all times. You may not agree with all considerations
and choices, but you must respect them and work harder for what you want.
Be responsible in all aspects of your life. Do not make excuses.
All paperwork such as physicals and school assignments must be handled accordingly in a timely
manner.
Carry yourself with honor and dignity each day. You represent yourself first and foremost.
Football needs to be a priority in your life. Only family, school, and religious beliefs are more
important.
Expected to participate in the community. Ex: Community service needs, youth programs.
Prohibited from placing any program information on social media.
Voice your opinions to coaches and staff. Your input is welcome at all times and constructive to
the health of the program.
Football is a gateway to character building. Our program will be a family culture that is represented
through calling yourself a team. We must respect one another, hold each person accountable, and
work for all rewards you may deserve. Success is not build in a day, however each day is imperative.
Players must put themselves “all in” to build the confidence needed to win. This is only done
through personal commitment.
A player expectation sheet will be given to each player prior to joining the program. The player expectations
sheet will be more elaborate and must be followed in every aspect. Failure to do so could result in
consequences leading to dismissal from team.
Player Expectations

Support Staff
A head coach must surround himself with an above average staff in all aspects of the program.
The coaching staff will be selected based on a personal interview process that is developed to
meet my standards. These position will be filled based on the needs of the program and the
influence of direction the program wants to go. Experience is not always the best description of
a coach’s importance to a program that is building a culture.
There will also be other positions within the program that will be integral to the culture
building process. The training staff will placed in a high importance role. They will keep all
players healthy and work diligently to get those players that are not, back on the field based on
their own guidelines. Coaches will never undermine the decision of the head trainer and player
needs. All media personnel will have full access to the program. We want to have the program
in the spotlight for all the right reasons and the media staff capable of providing our image to
the general public. They will detail aspects from the media guide including player profiles,
program background information, and the overwhelming need of social media in today’s world.
These individuals will help the players focus on their own tasks at hand.
Program Support Staff Positions
Player Counselor-
This individual or team, will handle all player education and personal needs. Most often people
feel more comfortable speaking with someone who they trust. This is the most important role other
than the coaching staff. I will always have an open door policy and open dialogue with all players, but
sometimes they need more. This position will serve as an academic advisor, health and wellness advisor,
and personal development coordinator.
Managers-
Provide daily needs to the program and its players. Equipment needs can be handled before and
after practice as time allows. Need to maintain all items for game day as well as travel needs. They will
follow the practice schedule is procuring necessary bags, shield, balls, markers, cones, scout team books,
and all other needs for each practice segment. Work with training staff to provide extra assistance with
needs. Valuable portion of the program.
Film Technicians-
Control all filming aspects of practice, games, and events. Responsible for placing the films in the
appropriate locations for coach’s evaluation and break down. All community service events will have a
short film produced for the program website. All player highlight videos will be produced and edited by
this team. All technical issues with equipment will be handled by the professionals.
Media Coordinator-
Maintenance of all website material for the program. Placing rosters, statistics, profiles, videos,
results, schedules, and all other pertinent information. Work with all social media outlets in portraying
the program in a positive spotlight. We be in charge of regulating the use of social media by all players.
Set up all pre-game and post-game interview needs by local media.
16. Coach Cook 16
Championship Vision
The core values at the heart of a championship football
program are commitment, courage, class, and character.
These four fundamental core values, all have deeper
meanings than the words themselves. Our job a football
coaches is to maximize the potential of each student-athlete.
Using the core values will increase our ability to be the caliber
team that I expect, coaches expect, and our community
expects. Following the values as a guideline to excellence, will
have each athlete ready for every endeavor life will provide. It
goes deeper than playing football. We will provide the most
capable path to achieve the ultimate goal of a championship.
One of the most satisfying achievements in the sport, can only
be reached with confidence through commitment.
Do the right thing every time. Be the best person you
are capable of being at all times. Drive the path to success
with eyes wide open. Fill your hearts with love of the game
and your teammates. Trust in the coaching staff. Desire more
than you can physically and mentally obtain. Have fun in your
travels. Flourish in your achievement.
Confidence through commitment will make you a champion!
17. Coach Cook 17
Coaching Controls
Our program will be dedicated to achieving the ultimate goal,
a Championship. Part of this involves keeping some items
within the program walls only. This is not a secret operation
and many programs are similar in their handling of materials.
Players will not receive paper playbooks, but will have them
available through other resources. Necessary items for all
coaches to use will be displayed at the time of hire. Examples
of these items will be provided if necessary only due to
containing program restrictive material:
Practice Scripts
