yetit had mobility.Lastly,there weresomanymore featuresaddedsuchasthe AppStore,photoalbum,
iTunes,Safari,andmuchmore.Thiswas the firsttabletthatone coulduse bothrecreationallyand/orfor
work-orienteduse. Previousmodelsneverquite caughtonandgot the attentionthatthistabletdid.
Ever since Apple launchedthe firstiPad,tabletshave rapidlycaughtthe attentionof producers
everywhere. One mightexperience difficultieswhenpickingoutatabletwiththe wide arrayof models
on the market.Apple, Intel, Samsung,Motorola,Toshiba,Google,Sony,HPandMicrosofthave all
releasedatleastone tabletsince the iPad’sreleasein2010. Notonlydidit catch producers’attention,
but itcaught the attentionof consumers, aswell. Ireadthat almosta thirdof the UnitedStates’
population (74millionpeople) ownsatablet.This numbershowsthe dramaticincrease since2011,
whenonly28 millionownedatablet.

like tolistsome featuresof thisesteemedtablet, andexplainhow eachone will benefityou. The
powerhouse behindthistabletis itsA5chip,the successortoApple’spreviousA4model. Thischipis
knownas a dual core processor,whichisa single computingunitcontaining twocentral processingunits
(CPU’s).The CPU isthe hardware that carriesout the instructionsgivenbythe tablet.Havingmultiple
CPU’s allowsformultiple instructionstobe runbythe tablet,whichincreasesitsoverall speed. The
original iPadwaspoweredbyanA4 chip,whichonlycontainedasingle CPU.Thiswouldbe the reason
Apple notesthatthe iPad2 istwice as fastas the original iPad.The speedassociatedwiththe iPad2is
beneficial becauseitincreasestime inthe classroominsteadof waitinglongerperiodsof time forthe
computer’sinstructionstobe loaded.
You may thinkthatbecause there are more CPU’s that needtobe powered,thiswilltake more
energyandreduce the batterylife onthe tablet.However,thisisnotthe case.Each CPU ina multi core
processortendstobe more energyefficientthana large,bulkysinglecore processor.Soalthoughthere
are more CPU’sthat require energy,theydon’trequire asmuchenergyasthe CPU ina single core
processorwould.The twoprocessor’sendupconsumingaboutthe same amountof power,therefore
the newerA5 chipyieldsahigherperformance while utilizingthe same amountof energy.Similartothe
original iPad,the iPad2 can sustainabout10 hoursof batterylife.Thisisasubstantial amountof time
for students touse theirtabletsduringthe school daywithouthavingtoworryaboutthemdying.The
average school daygoesfor about6-8 hours,so studentswon’thave toworryaboutusingtheirtablet
lessinorderto save battery.

2. The feature of Apple products thatreallyseparatesthemfromothertabletswouldbe their
massive AppStore.There are over1 millionapplicationsofferedonthismarketplace,andthisvariety
trulyprovidesyouwithanapplicationforjustaboutanything.Youcan eithersearchforan app
specificallyoryoucan justbrowse aroundto findnew anduseful apps.The AppStore putstheirappsin
differentcategoriesorgenres.Forexample,youcanjustbrowse forapplicationsrelatedtoeducation,
finance,entertainment,books,etc.Itis alwaysnice to know whatothersthinkaboutpotentialsapps

camera have photoand videotakingability.These featurescouldbe puttouse in situationwhere a
teacherwouldtake a picture of an importantdefinitionorpicture fromthe day’slecture andE-mail itto
studentswhowere absent.Anotherpotential use couldbe foraphotographyclass.Maybe a teacher
spendsa dayout of each weektakinghis/herstudentswalkingaroundandtakingpicturesof nature.

3. Howeveryourschool systemdecidestoutilize these cameras,they definitely provideafunand
interactive wayforstudentstolearn.
The last feature thatcaught myattentiononthistabletwasthe abilitytoswitchyourprimary
language andthe language yousee onyour keyboard.Withnumerouslanguagestochoose fromyou
may customize yourtablettofityourneeds.Thisisbeneficial towardsstudentswhospeakalanguage
otherthan Englishathome,or for teachersteachingforeignlanguage classes.Changingthe primary
language onyour tabletwill allowforyoutosee everything onthe screen(besidesthe keyboard

I have one on mine andI have onlyreplaceditonce inthe time I’ve hadit. These are offeredfornearly
everyApple device andevenforsome otherdevices,aswell. Frompersonal experience,I’dhighly
recommendthismethodof protection. AsImentionedbefore,withalarge quantityof students
handlingthese iPadsdaybyday,the glassscreencouldeasilybreakona numberof tablets,so
protectionwouldbe advised.
Thisaccessoryprovidesthe userthe abilitytotype ona physical keyboardratherthanthe glass
screen.Itis detachable,and fitsthe tablettogive itthe appearance of a laptop.Althoughthe keyboard
iscompletelyoptional asthere isalreadyanextremelycleankeyboardatopthe iPad’sglass,Ifeel itisa
goodaccessoryto have for those gettingusedtotypingonthisnew technology.Itmaybe betterfor
some to ease theirwayintousingthe glassscreenas a keyboard.
A stylusisanotheroptional accessory,asmostof us use our fingerstooperate a tablet.My
opiniononitisa bitsimilartothe keyboard,Ifeel thatit isgoodfor people gettingusedtothe glass
screenof a tablet.ButI alsobelievethatthe styluscouldbe usedforart purposesandotherapplications
that teacherschoose toimplementintheirclasslessons.Forsome,the penlikedevice providesease in
interactingwiththe device.

4. A chargingcart maybe usedtocharge multiple tabletsatone time.Theyvaryinprice depending
on howmanytabletsthe cart can hold.Some holdabout10, otherscan holdup to as much as 75
tablets. Thisaccessorymaybe usedin several ways.Teachersandstudentswhoforgottocharge up
theirphoneswouldbe able toplugitintothisand have a charge forat leastpartof the day. Youcould
implementadiscipliningsystemandnotallow punishedstudentstotake theirtabletshome.Thiscart
wouldcompensate all of theirtabletssothattheywouldbe chargedforthe upcomingschool day.
If you feel asthoughthe cart istoo much,maybe a few powerstationswouldworkoutbetterfor
