2. 2. What Is Whaling

Whaling refers to the hunting and killing of whales by humans for their resources. The slaughter of these giant mammals for their meat, bone, oil and blubber is no new phenomenon—it is an age-old practice that has been carried out for centuries.

 4. 4. Governments and NGOs

Greenpeace, is a NGO that is against whaling. Quote “We are working towards an end to whaling in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary through our ongoing work in Japan to expose the corruption enshrined in Japan’s whaling industry. Two Greenpeace activists known as ‘ The Tokyo Two ’ were convicted after having exposed a whale-meat embezzlement scandal there and we are currently involved in an appeal process.”

WhaleWatch.org is another NGO that is against whaling.

 6. 6. Japan’s Prospectives

Japan whale’s for food, one because many years ago they ate whale meat. Now that their is much more people in Japan, they have to catch more and more whales to get food. We eat steak and its our culture to eat it. This is the same as why Japan eats whale’s.

 7. 7. Modern Day Practices

Today they use explosive harpoons to kill the whales faster and to give the whale more grief. If they whale doesn’t die straight away they decide to shot the secondary shot, that is usually from a rifle or another harpoon. They then cut it up and use the oil, meat and fats.
