  • I am fed up with being told how to make lesson exciting, A because respect for teachers is low and B because we do not make training later in life "all singing and dancing". This attidude does not prepare young people for the hard graft that is coming after school,

Discover how Microsoft is redefining learning with the Surface Pro 4 - Natalie L

  1. 1. Touch tablet + laptop + pen and paper = digital transformation with Surface Pro 4 The new education equation It’s not easy being a teacher. You’re an educator, entertainer, motivator, role model, and still just one human – and the school day never ends at the school gates. Lighten the load with the new Surface Pro 4. It’s portable, powerful and packs in the best tools for both you and your students. Is it a tablet? Is it a laptop? It’s both, and more. See how Natalie, a primary school teacher, is using hers. + + =
  2. 2. Connect and collaborate, anywhere At breakfast, I switch on my Surface Pro 4 and sign in to GLOW and Office 365. I take a glance at the weather through Live Tiles (phew! No rain) and browse the news on the news app.
  3. 3. Who can tell me the colours in French? Connect and collaborate, anywhere On the way to work, I spot a rainbow and take a photo on my phone. I share the picture to my with the question “Who can tell me the colours in French?”, and also add the image to a PowerPoint in my OneDrive.
  4. 4. Connect and collaborate, anywhere I get to school The surface pen is amazing – handwriting and head straight off on a trip. I use my Surface Pro to take the register via the Sims app and instruct the kids to shoot photos and videos and embed them into OneNote. All our work is saved straight to the cloud, so it can’t get lost. With real-time syncing, it’s instantly available when we’re in the classroom.
  5. 5. Connect and collaborate, anywhere Back from the trip, I have a quick bite to eat and prepare for my next lesson. I find my PowerPoint on planets in my OneDrive and drop it straight into a Sway. I then present the Sway to the class and together we use SkyMap to explore the planets.
  6. 6. Connect and collaborate, anywhere Marking classwork has never been faster. I open each student’s work in OneNote and use the Surface Pro pen to ink feedback and leave a mark. I can even insert audio comments!
  7. 7. Connect and collaborate, anywhere In the staffroom, I grab a coffee and dock the Surface Pro so that it’s connected to an external monitor. I use Skype for Business with screen sharing to call a colleague. A Cortana reminder pops up: Remember to book honeymoon. Yay!
