SIGNS OF STRESSED OUT
SCHOOLS
• Everyone is always busy and surviving
• Incidents with students and parents, between colleagues
• Agenda is about managing the school
• Principal is solving all problems, alone
• Teachers don’t collaborate on a structural basis
• Teachers, students and SLT are not learning together
• Control- EITHER TOO MUCH OR SOME ARE LOSING IT!
SCHOOL LEADERSHIP THAT
MATTERS FOR STUDENTS
• Plan the first meeting about student learning
• Engage everyone
• Agenda: teaching and learning
• Don’t make it too formal
• Have lunch in the canteen/visit teachers after school time
• Don’t forget the people that don’t say much
• Celebrate the first week in an informal way
• You are not the only one in the school who is responsible for
students
• Making mistakes is human, say sorry.
TEACHERS ARE YOUR GREATEST ASSET!
INVEST IN YOUR FRONT LINERS.
