MANDATORY PROVISIONS OF CSR UNDER COMPANIES ACT, 2013 • CSR NOTIFIED BY MINISTRY OF CORPORATE AFFAIRS. • APPLICABILITY: SECTION 135 OF THE COMPANIES ACT PROVIDES THE THRESHOLD LIMIT FOR APPLICABILITY OF THE CSR TO A COMPANY • CSR COMMITTEE AND POLICY: INDICATES THE ACTIVITIES TO BE UNDERTAKEN BY COMPANY AS SPECIFIED IN SCHEDULE VII. • ACTIVITIES UNDER CSR: ACTIVITIES DONE BY THE COMPANY TO ACHIEVE ITS CSR OBLIGATIONS • LOCAL AREA: PREFERENCE SHOULD BE GIVEN TO LOCAL AREAS WHERE THE COMPANY OPERATES. • EXPENDITURE: COMPANY HAS TO PREPARE ANNUAL REPORT EVERY FINANCIAL YEAR.
  3. 3. The TATA Group Multinational conglomerate holding company. Founder- Jamsetji Tata. Amongst the top 10 corporate volunteering programme in the world. Social activities of TATA group relates to: 1) Health 2) Primary education 3) Skills training 4) Entrepreneurship 5) Women empowerment, etc.

AMRUTDHARA (DRINKING WATER)  Deployed under the aegis of Sumant Moolgaokar Development Foundation (SMDF)  Addressing the ‘drinking-water’ needs of needy and deserving communities.  Powered through voluntary contribution of Rs.20/month/employee and matching contribution by the company.  Annual expense for projects is to the order of INR 1.2 crore  Availability of minimum 25 liters/person/day to over 1 lakh person.  Over 40%of the beneficiaries belong to SC/ST category  Resulted in arresting diseases arising due to lack of safe drinking water.

AAROGYA (HEALTH)  Health is a key determinant of the quality of life of a person and the family.  Focuses on maternal and child health by adopting a holistic approach and striking a balance between ‘preventive healthcare’ and ‘curative healthcare’ interventions.  Key projects of this programmes are: Addressing child malnutrition. Health awareness for women. Preventive and curative health services.

VASUNDHARA (ENVIRONMENT)  Strives to contribute to enhanced environmental sustainability by proactively facilitating the protection.  The underlying vision is that environment being a common global concern, any effort at promoting environmental sustainability at a local level would benefit the environment as well as local communities and society at large.  TREE PLANTATION: Increasing the green cover tree plantation is a key CSR project under Vasundhara.  ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS: Creating environmental awareness amongst school children is also a key component of Vasundhara.

  12. 12.  Tata Motors has always encouraged ‘holistic engagement’ with the entire spectrum of formal education for needy, deserving and marginalized students, focusing not just on the academic but also the physical and sociological development as well as inculcation of values.  The key CSR projects under the Education programme Vidyadhanam include:  Scholarships.  Financial aid to engineering students of IITs and government engineering colleges.  Coaching classes.  Special coaching for IIT-JEE and other competitive examinations.  School infrastructure improvement.  Co-curricular activities.
