7. Crompton Greaves (CG) is an Indian multinational company engaged in design,
manufacturing, and marketing of products related to power generation, transmission, and
distribution based in Mumbai. Its part of Avanta Group
Crompton founded R.E.B. Crompton & Company in 1878. The company was merged with
F.A. Parkinson in 1927 to form Crompton Parkinson Ltd.
Lala Karam Chand Thapar, an Indian industrialist, bought Greaves Cotton when the company was
put up for sale. With this acquisition, Karam Chand Thapar gained control of several associated
companies such as Crompton Parkinson Works, Greaves Cotton and Crompton Parkinson
Company.
The name Crompton Greaves Limited was adopted on 2nd August,1966.

CG alongwith its consortium partners installs its largest ever Offshore Transmission Substation in Germany.
CG has bagged a large order from the Indian Railways valued at INR 3190 million to supply Under Slung Electrics
for Diesel Electric Tower Car (DETC). Large quantities of DETCs are required for massive track electrification drive
taken up by Indian Railways across the country.
CG Power bags IDR 744 billion (USD 55 million) order from Indonesian state utility PT PLN Indonesia (Persero) for
