2. Environment of Presentation
This room is a suitable place to present my presentation as it has a
variety of features which enhances my performance. For example
there is a lot of room to move around which makes the presentation
more engaging for the audience. Also the interactive white board
makes the presentation more engaging which benefits me as it is able
to provide visual aid to further put forward my proposals for the
magazine. This uses a projector to make the image bigger so the
audience can see the presentation clearly. Also to improve my
performance of the presentation I can use the slide changer which is a
remote to move through each slide without having to take my
attention away from the audience, so I can keep there full attention.
One of the most interactive feature is Prezi where each slide moves
over a blank canvas so the presentation is moving with me instead of
separate and similar slides. The computer which the presentation will
be run on has a smaller monitor which I can use instead of looking
behind me so I can always for the audience.
4. Personal Presentation
I will be wearing a full suit to look prepared and
as I should be if I was presenting a first issue of a
magazine to potential investors of my ideas.
5. Proposals - Jump
Genre
This type of magazine is a Dance and Clubbing magazine,
which will attempt to compete with similar magazine
such as: Mixmag, tilllate and shook.
Title
The connotations behind ‘Jump’ is that it’s the type of
atmosphere at a festival which is what I want to re create
in my magazine. I have been inspired by the ‘tilllate’ title
as it connotes that their readers are up late.
Font
The font is big and loud which connotes the type the
readership which I have.
6. Intentions
• The competitors for my magazine are mainly
going to be Mixmag as, they are the market
leaders, they also are already a very
established magazine in the same genre and
they provide similar content to me. Other
competitors are: tilllate and Shook. These
magazine aren’t as popular as Mixmag
although they are in the same genre and we
will be at the same market level when we start
production.
7. • Content
The magazine will include articles about; news and
popular artists, festivals reviews and exclusive
interviews. Each of these will be accompanied by
lots of photos. Also it’ll include big and small artists
for a wider variety of people and also people who
have musical influence.
Some artists will include: Deadmau5, Carl Coxs and
MR G.
The reviews and articles will be about new festivals.
Such as; brownstock festival, hijacked festival and
outbreak festival.
8. Promotion – above the line
• Above the line: I will be using websites and
posters.
• Also in the first year we will be developing our
magazine website for additional information
about the magazine and what pervious and up-
coming issue are about. This will be happening
next year for financial purposes.
• For other above the line promotion we will be
putting poster near underground trains. As this is
a very active area especially for students moving
around town.
http://www.executionists.com/blog/much-website-cost-2015/
9. Websites Costs
• The whole website altogether will cost £6,000 as it is a
complete new website it has to be started from
scratch. This is a brief overview on where the money
will be spent:
• Planning - £360
• Visual design - £1,200
• Programming - £3,000
• Content support - £240
• Client training/ documentation - £240
• Testing and launch - £960
• Total - £ 6,000
10. Poster
• For 100, 100% recycled 150gsm A4, posters
it’ll cost £42 including VAT. These posters are a
cheap way of advertising and we plan on
placing these poster outside universities, clubs
to direct this marketing at students and
outside some train stations as they are always
busy.
http://www.alocalprinter.com/uk/posters/
11. Promotion – below the line
• Below the line: this will definitely
include social media promotion e.g.
Facebook and Twitter. As it is cheap
and easy to get to the target
audience. We will also use Email
marketing which will be available on
our developing website which users
will be able to sign up for and it is free
so it’ll be good for the first year of our
business as we aim to break even in
the first year.
12. Marketing costs - Facebook
• For Facebooks social media it costs £13 each
day. This will amount to 38 – 153 likes per day.
So over a course of the year it’ll cost £4745 to
gain 13870 – 55845 likes in a year.
• We aim to do this next year for financial
reasons.
13. Email Marketing
• The email will be presented on social media
such as Facebook and all you’ll have to do is
send a email to them saying ‘I want emails
updates about Jump’ and they will be sent
from then on.
14. Production Plan
• The first week will be focuses on organising what
material they are going to create and include to put
into there magazine, such as; articles, design, photos
and the over all layout of the magazine. Then deadlines
will need to made in each department with time too
proof read, time to print and distribute. This content
will then be gathered throughout the rest of the week
and the next. These wont just be the articles which are
going to be used but also spare articles to put in to the
bank in-case those which are intended to be used
aren’t relevant or of a good enough standard.
15. • The second week will still be collecting
content for the magazine. This will take up
most of the week. The information which is
needed to be collected is photos, interviews
and other info. I will also release some
information to certain groups to get specific
feedback to improve the current magazine
plan.
16. Budget Summary – Employment

• 1 editor for £18,000 annually.
• 1 assistant editor for £16,000 annually.
• 2 junior graphic designer as an internship for
the first year .

• Thus Total $720 annually

london-farringdon-holborn-viaduct-ec1/1099236282
21. Magazine income
• Altogether in my magazine 6 adverts in my
magazine most of them taking up two pages.
• This results in a total of £26,016 advertising
revenue costs.
22. Katz’ Uses and Gratification:
• Personal relationship and personal identity
• Relationship – Discussion about artist/festivals
• Identity – Compare themselves with others
• The interview and articles will meet there
needs by including information about new
artists, debates and conversations.
23. Psychographics
• 16-21
• The magazine aims at young males and
females who are interested in going to
festivals and clubs. This is majority of
students.
24. Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs
• People are explores and social climbers
• Explores are people who are influenced by
social change, so I will be covering news about
festivals and artists.
• Also social climbers are people who are
materialistically driven so we will include the
luxurious life of the most popular artists.
Including new products and technology.
25. Demographics
• The target audience goes into the E, D
categories as they are mostly students or
unskilled workers who will buy this magazine
as they are the youngest in the hierarchy.
• There spending power will then be a lot less
so my magazine won’t be too expensive.
• But for the first year it’ll be £4.99 to cover
financial costs but I aim to reduce that over
time.
26. Font
• The font of the masthead also has a unique
look and has a techno appearance which
relates with my genre of music.
28. • The mood board is colourful and happy which
I have transferred into my magazine front
cover. The blue and purple swirls is what I
have used for my front cover.
29. Mood board conclusion
• The pink and blue stripes and swirls on the mood
board connote lights which can be similar to the
ones at night clubs or festival lights.
• The swimming pool is their represent the feeling
of summer. The water connotes the feeling of
weightlessness which is like being relaxed which
is what I want this magazine to connote.
• The paint splatters and explosion are their to
connote how bright the magazine is.
30. Hand drawn front cover 1

Hand drawn Magazine of inspiration
32. House styles
• The colour scheme is going to be a blue, pink and white.
The magazine front cover is supposed to connote summer
and relaxation. The colour blue is supposed to connote the
summers sky or a swimming pool like from the inspiration
on the mood board.
• I have decided to include pink more in my magazine than
any other colour as it should attract more females into
reading it as the majority of the readership is male.
• Magazines in this genre won’t use a lot of pink but very
dark colour which I think puts off female viewers and my
magazine can gain the female readership as other
magazines have not adjusted to their values.
36. Improvements
The original front cover wasn’t fit for purpose because of a variety of
different reasons which had to be changed. The biggest issue with the
front cover was that the cover image was too unconventional as John
still had his school bag on and he also wasn’t looking at the camera. So
I retook the photo. Now John is looking at the camera and smiling. He
also doesn’t have his bag on.
Also the mast head as over his head which I was able to put behind
him by moving the layers. Another text issue was the cover story font
style was too big. I was able to reduce the gap between the letters so it
was the same size but didn’t take up too much space.
Another improvement I made was that the text needed to be inside
the barcode. I did this by inserting a black white box behind the text.

42. 2nd Proposal - BASS
Proposal:
I am going to produce a new music magazine in the sub-genre of dance called
‘BASS’ magazine. The ‘BASS’ masthead connotes the atmosphere in a club
and the type of music which is played their and the music genre.
Masthead:
The font style called ‘Digital Anarchy’, which is a very heavy and bold text
which matches my colour scheme. The Dark block text also has random splat
of paint on the text. This is to connote paint being thrown or what a glow
stick might do if it was snapped.
Colour:
The colours I am going to be using is a black and probably dark background
and the other colours are going to be; blue, pink, green and orange. These
ours are going to be neon. The neon looks makes them look like glow sticks
which connotes the atmosphere of a music festival especially at night or in
the dark like in a club.
43. Above the line - Promotion
Above the line:
£10,000 on an national radio to advertise my
magazine across the UK.
£190 for a billboard poster for 2 weeks which
includes the printing and the placement of the
billboard.
http://www.radioadvertising.co.uk/costs
https://www.signkick.co.uk/
44. Below the line - Promotion

and Twitter as they are free to set up so they as
this will be a beginning of my magazine being a
free service will help a lot with finance.

49. Advertisement Revenue
I will aim to have 10 full page adverts inside this
magazine to cover the majority of the costs of
the business. The total amount of these costs
will come to £15,000.
http://www.insidermedia.com/advertising-sponsorship/data/magazine-advertising-rates
50. Distribution costs

• 5% will go to the Distributing company
Seymour
• 8% to the wholesalers
• 27% to the Retailer
http://www.thecompleteuniversityguide.co.uk/cities/london/
51. Target Audience
The target audience for this magazine will be
similar to my first magazine idea ‘Jump’ as it is
aimed towards students between the age of 16-
25 as it is part of the clubbing and dance music
genre which is mostly listened by younger adults
in the E demographic.
52. Katz’ Uses and Gratification:
• Diversion – This is where the people whom
read my magazine do so because they want to
escape the problems of everyday life and a
constant routine. My magazine will aim to
provide them with a calm and relaxing which
should release them of the stress of everyday
work and problems.
53. Psychographics
• 15-25
• The magazine aims at young males and
females who are interested in house genre
music. This is majority of students and skilled
and unskilled workers.
54. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs
People are explores:
• Explores are people who are influenced by
social change, so I will be covering news about

with what is going on in the genre.

62. Colour scheme
The colour scheme of the front cover of the magazine will
be a black background with other neon colours which are;
blue, pink, green and orange. These colours are to
connote a festival or club where glow sticks are used for
everyone together to wave in the air. This should give off
the vide of a festival or club to the people who look at the
magazine on the shelves. However the double page
spread is going to be different and it is only going to be
one colour out of the Blue, pink, green and orange as
each of those colours are supposed to show a different
category in the magazine such as; green means interview.
65. Production Plan
• The first week will be focuses on organising what
material they are going to create and include to put
into there magazine, such as; articles, design, photos
and the over all layout of the magazine. Then deadlines
will need to made in each department with time too

most of the week. The information which is
needed to be collected is photos, interviews
and other info. I will also release some
information to certain groups to get specific
feedback to improve the current magazine
plan.
67. Calendar events
During the summer my magazine is going to
heavily make content based upon the various
festivals in the season. The main festival is Ultra
Music festival in Miami where a whole issue will
be focused onto the festival.
There will also be exclusive issues like at
Halloween and Christmas.

Notes de l'éditeur
Hello, and welcome to my presentation on my new magazine Jump.
