In this presentation, Saksham introduces the topic of SMAC, trends and real life examples of deployment of the SMAC stack. His interest area is predictive analytics.

wow!!we got data
from social
media.But what to
do with that??
Yes-analytics!!
2. Social Mobile Analytics Cloud
Consumers use it to
communicate and express
their opinions about
products and services,
while professionals also use
it to collaborate and
innovate.
Combined with mobile
computing, it can also
become a rich new source
of data that can help
organizations better
understand the needs and
preferences of their
markets
This results in a different
experience where
application moves away
from boring, bulky and
crowded user interfaces to
a more intuitive user
experience resulting in
increasing efficiency and
productivity.
Mobile Computing
links end-users with
information, and with
smarter organizations
that have extended their
operations to the mobile
world.
Enterprise applications
on mobile devices have
been around for a long
time but the scope has
been limited so far .
Enterprise applications
are generally complex to
work on, and require
specific training and
knowledge. While
mobile applications are
typically meant for a
simple user experience
where users can perform
transactions quickly,
while being on move.
Every year, companies
and individuals
generate billions of
gigabytes of data.
Analytics makes
extensive use of
mathematics and
statistics to convert raw
data into a meaningful
data which can
augment decision
making process.
More recently,
national and local
governments across the
world have started
using analytics for
optimizing public
welfare programs,
reducing traffic
congestion in their
cities and fighting
crime.
Simple meaning of
Cloud in context of
SMAC is using software
applications as a service
without buying them.
The point here is that
user need not buy and
install hardware,
software, network and
infrastructure and start
using the software
without any capital
expenditure, and pay as
per use.
Also, cloud is just not
about the cheaper cost,
it is also about agility,
innovation, access to
latest technology, on-
demand service and
scalability.
3. BRIEF UNDERSTANDING:-
Each of these four social, mobility, analystic and cloud are capable for enhancing the business on its
own, integrating these four together as a stack has changed the way business are looking to maximise their
customer base.
ANALYTICS to drive
businesses through the way
of big data, business
intelligence and analysis of
multistructure high volume
datasets
CLOUD COMPUTING will
provide the solutions for IT-
companies that would help
them to offer more cost
optimzed solutions to their
clients
SOCIAL MEDIA would
help IT- firms to capitalize
on the growth generated
by the increasing usage of
social media by consumers
and businesses
MOBILTY to offer two pronged
growth path of enterprise
mobility and consumer mobility
SMAC enables enterprises
leverage the cloud for storing
huge volume of multi
structured customer data ,
generated over mobile
devices and social media and
analyse these data set for
business advantage
4. TREND:-T
The emergence of new technologies over the past few years has resulted in a transformational change
in the world around us. From the rise of social media with it’s over 1 billion subscribers worldwide, to
the ubiquitous spread of mobile phones and the resulting explosion of big data and big analytics, the
world around us is changing faster than any one of us could ever imagine. Add to this the ever
expanding presence of cloud computing in our life, and we’re probably witnessing the zenith of the
technological age.
By 2020 ,as many 100
billion computing devices
will be connected to the
web and corporation will
be managing 50 times the
data they do currently
SMAC is disrupting the
world. No CIO discussion is
complete without
considering impact of
SMAC on business.
5. REAL LIFE EXAMPLE SHOWING POWER AND TREND OF SMAC
we have the data that is collected through social media via mobile phone. what can you do with them?
Here is one example. A chain of shops holds a sales promotion and makes ‘tweetable’ messages available to
customers via its website and emailing. The sales promotion achieves particular success in one of the shops
and in a virtuous spiral upwards continues to succeed as shoppers use Twitter or other social networks to
tell friends about the deal to be had. Sales data from all the shops is gathered over the Internet and analyzed
in the cloud. The analytics show the mushrooming sales in the shop concerned and prompt the chain to
route inventory to that shop to meet the new forecasts in demand. that’s how much of the problem is
solved and provides profit.
FACT FIGURES
-25% people on this planet use social media .
-There are 7.1 billion people living in this world and 6.6 billion mobile subscribers. By 2016, there will be
more than 10 billion mobile devices which would roughly be 1.5 times of world's population at that time and
thus provide social feedback more frequently increasing the volume of their data trail.
conclusion –Here Retailers are using the SMAC technology in obtaining the shopping experiences
of their customers with the data dynamics to use for analytics using mobile and social marketing
data. The collected data can be used by retailers to enhance their products and services in order
to deliver better customer satisfaction.
6. INTERNSHIP INTERESTS AND INNOVATIONS
According to me analytics is of highest priority among all four components of SMAC and
that’s why I am highly interested in Analytics. Because in the growth of social media and
mobile we have little role to play for and for me publicity is of little importance than that work
on algorithm. I love to handle data including storing and analysing and we know Analysis and
prediction algorithms are integral part of analytics and likely to play big role in IT firms in next
5 years However we cannot neglect cloud, It already find its place in heart of organisations. I
would prefer if work assigned to me includes both the use of analytics and cloud in
collaboration
There are no restriction of using algorithm for analysing data and also on way of storing
data.Overall aim is to achieve accuracy of prediction after analysing data and efficient storing
of data.I would innovate through forming of new algorithms which have less runtime and
space complexity and produce result efficiently and. There already exist some methords which
analyse ,predict and access data from cloud.I would also like to innovate through adding
functions to such methords and made available to my organisation cheaply, timely and
efficiently which leads to overall development of Mphasis.
