Training: Advantages <ul><li>Staff will become more competent at their jobs. </li></ul><ul><li>Staff become more flexible. </li></ul><ul><li>Staff will feel more valued in their workplace, and therefore more motivated. </li></ul><ul><li>Increases productivity. </li></ul><ul><li>Fewer accident will occur as staff have been trained to use equipment properly. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Advantages of Staff Training <ul><li>Waste is reduced as staff are more efficient. </li></ul><ul><li>The organisation’s image is improved to outsiders. </li></ul>

Training: Disadvantages <ul><li>Once staff are fully trained they may leave to take up a better paid job. </li></ul><ul><li>The financial cost of training may be high. </li></ul><ul><li>Work time is lost while staff are being trained. </li></ul><ul><li>The quality of training must be high for it to have a positive effect. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Internal Training <ul><li>Advantages: Staff feel more comfortable in their own surroundings. Cheaper than external as transport must be paid for. </li></ul><ul><li>Disadvantages: Staff may by distracted by the normal working environment. </li></ul>
  6. 6. External Training <ul><li>Advantages: New ideas will be brought, since staff are interacting with other organisations. </li></ul><ul><li>Disadvantages: Trainers must be arranged, as does a venue. </li></ul>
