We'll try to find out if the website realtranslatorjobs.com is a scam. I took this website as an example because I've seen it many times on Google Adwords results, it looks to clearly targets users in poor countries.
2. What is Realtranslatorjobs.com
It is a website that helps bilingual people by giving
them well-paid translation jobs.
I've seen it many time in Adwords results on Google as
I live in Asia, you're less likely to see it if you live in an
English speaking country.
3. Let's start with the questions you should ask yourself if you
want to spot a scam and avoid to be tricked.
Is the offer unbelievable?
No, translation jobs exist.
Is it a pyramidal system?
Does not look to be.
If I were the webmaster of this website, would I keep
this for myself?
Nothing really secret here.
5. Let's have a look at the page, there is a girl showing some bills but it's
more a general image and there are no testimonials.
Once again, we can give it the benefit of the doubt.
6. So we'll look at the website, it's really
suspicious!
There is nothing about the company of course, not even a name.
The FAQ gives one interesting information, see below. The website was
looking free for me even if it was not clearly stated. We now discover that
there is a fee obviously, let's continue anyway.
It's confirmed by the presence of an affiliate program. So there is a fee.
7. What does Google say?
First we find the marketing websites made by friends or by the
owner himself:
You get realtranslatorjobsreviews.com that is totally dedicated
to this program, we can ignore this one seeing the domain name
but I visit it to be sure and... as expected it's not objective.
Then you have an article on a more generalist website named
homebasedjobshq.com which gives all the ways to be tricked if
you want to work at home, all with referral links of course. There
are many other wonderful offers there, you can for example
become an office cleaner without any investment... aside from
the starting kit. :)
8. And there are the forums...
If you scroll a little in the search results, you find two topics
dedicated to this website, they are relevant as they are both on
translators dedicated forums:
translationdirectory.com
&
Proz.com
As expected they don't believe in this program.
9. I think we can conclude without too much risk by
saying that
realtranslatorjobs.com
is kind of scam
By reading the posts on the forums, we see that
the website just gives you names of companies
to contact, no direct job.
The refund process is either long or just
inexistant.
