• We are investigating how the classroom ethos
and the physical environment can impact on
pupils’ understanding

• Say how they impact on understanding

• Where are you at in terms of understanding
about this module on a rating of 1 – 6?
• 1 being low understanding
• 6 being high understanding
Format :
• Welcome - video clip running
• Individual reading task
• Group task – summarise reading
• Video clip
• Group task – Diamond 9
• Share extension task – reading and video clip

any way that helps

• Share the key components of creating a
positive learning environment from your
extract? (2 mins each)
• Discuss how you think these key components
impact on developing deep pupil understanding
• Choose a reporter from each group to report
back
Group Task (Cont.)
• View selection from video clip 14.2 – coaches
discuss the key components of a positive
learning ethos and environment
• Brief discussion of content will be integrated
into next activity

• Use Diamond 9 to prioritise aspects of the
environment and behaviour management that impact
on understanding
Extension Tasks
• Read extensions reading 1 ‘Visible learning for
Teachers’ Hattie J – use the exercise on p34 if
desired
