3. Republic of Poland
• POLAND is a unitary sovereign state in Central Europe. With a
mostly temperate climate. With a population of over 38.5 million
people, Poland is the sixth most populous member state of the
European Union. Poland's capital and largest city is Warsaw. The
area of Poland, as given by the Central Statistical Office, is
312,679 km2.
4. Polish borders
• Poland border with 7 countries: Germany in the west, Slovakia and
the Czech Republic in the south, Russia and Lithuania in the north,
Belarus and Ukraine in the east. In the north, the state border runs
along the coast of the Baltic Sea. Total Polish borders amount to
3511 km.
5. Administrative divisions
• The voivodeships are subdivided into powiats and these are further
divided into gminas. Major cities normally have the status of both gmina
and powiat. Poland has 16 voivodeships, 379 powiats (including 65 cities
with powiat status), and 2,478 gminas.
6. WARSAW
• Warsaw is the capital and largest city of Poland. The metropolis
stands on the Vistula River in east-central Poland.
Among the most notable landmarks of the Old Town are the Royal
Castle, King Sigismund's Column, Market Square, and the Barbican.
• Further south is the so-called Royal Route, with many classicist
palaces, the Presidential Palace. Warsaw's oldest public park, the
Saxon Garden, is located within 10 minutes' walk from the old town.
Warsaw's biggest public park is the Łazienki Park, also called the
"Royal Baths Park„.
8. WROCŁAW
• is the largest city in western Poland. It lies on the banks of the River
Oder in the Silesian Lowlands of Central Europe.

• Wrocław Zoo with an Africarium-Oceanarium – The oldest zoo in
Poland. The third zoo in the world in terms of number of animal
species.

10. ZAKOPANE
• Zakopane is a town in the extreme south of Poland. It lies in the
southern part of the Podhale region at the foot of the Tatra
Mountains.
• In the winter, Zakopanes tourists are interested in winter sports
activities such as skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, snowmobiling,
sleigh rides, snowshoe walks, and Ice skating.During the summer,
Tourists come to do activities like hiking, climbing, bike and horse
ride the Tatras mountain, there are many trails in the Tatras.
• A popular tourist activity is taking a stroll through the town's most
popular street: Krupówki. It is lined with stores, restaurants, carnival
rides, and performers.
• There is a house upside down in Zakopane.
• Ski jump - a large rafter.
12. CRACOW
• the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Situated
on the Vistula River in the Lesser Poland (Polish: Małopolska)
region.

14. KOŁOBRZEG
• is a city in the West Pomeranian Voivodeship in north-western
Poland.
• Kołobrzeg is located on the Parsęta River on the south coast of the Baltic
Sea.
• Kołobrzeg today is a popular tourist destination for Poles, Germans and due
to the ferry connection to Bornholm also Danish people.
• Kołobrzeg is also a regional cultural center. In the summer take place - a
number of concerts of popular singers, musicians. Municipal Cultural
Center, is located in the Park teatralny.

16. GDYNIA
• Gdynia is a city in the Pomeranian Voivodeship of Poland and a
seaport of Gdańsk Bay on the south coast of the Baltic Sea.
• Gdynia is part of a conurbation with the spa town of Sopot, the city
of Gdańsk and suburban communities, which together form a
metropolitan area called the Tricity.
