AI Promises to Speed Drug
Deployment
Check out the latest applications and advances GPUs have
made HERE
Alzheimer’s. Cancer. Parkinson’s. These devastating diseases are
just a few of the hundreds that scientists are struggling to cure
with new medicines in the face of soaring drug-discovery costs
and testing times.
Now, artificial intelligence is showing the potential to be a faster,
more efficient way to find and develop new drugs. A growing
number of companies and university researchers are tackling
some of medicine’s toughest problems by using AI computing to
predict which drug molecules are most likely to be effective
treatments.

Detecting New Malware with AI
Cybersecurity is a cat-and-mouse game where the mouse
always has long had the upper hand because it’s so easy for
new malware to go undetected. Dr. Eli David, an expert in
computational intelligence and CTO of Deep Instinct, wants to
use AI to change that, bringing the GPU-powered deep
learning techniques underpinning modern speech and image
recognition to the vexing world of cybersecurity.

UMass Rolls Out New GPU Cluster for
Deep Learning
UMass rolled out its new GPU cluster – Gypsum – aimed at deep
learning. Like many institutions, UMass is seeking to attract Ph.D.
students drawn to deep learning and artificial intelligence. At 400
GPUs, Gypsum is on the large side for academic GPU clusters
according the university.
The new systems will be housed at the Massachusetts Green High
Performance Computing Center in Holyoke, Mass., and is the
result of a five-year, $5 million grant to the campus from the
Massachusetts Technology Collaborative made last year.
