5. Yoga Education
I would describe myself as a yoga nerd, who loves
discussing yoga philosophy, anatomy, and ways to
make the yoga community a more accepting space
for everyone. My teaching style follows the example
of T. Krishnamacharya and his idea of tailoring a
yoga practice to each student’s needs and abilities. I
work with each student or trainee to help them find
their own way of practising or teaching yoga and to
believe in themselves in whatever they do. It’s
important to me that you feel comfortable and
accepted in any class. I want you to come as you
are, have some fun, and know that everything you
need is right there inside of you.
As for my other background, I have a doctorate in
education from Columbia University. Along with
teaching yoga, I have spent much time teaching and
developing health and wellness programs.
May you be well, may you be happy, and may you
always live with ease.

School is not the only place of learning for
kids. They watch and replicate things
everywhere, this further affects their psyche.
The world is a lot more competitive and
advanced for new-age kids. This could trigger
anxiety and self-esteem issues. Yoga can help
your kids build confidence and psychological
issues. Kids can practice yoga at school with
the help of their teacher, but you as a parent
can also do some of these exercises with your
child in your living room!

Introduction
7. Here are simple yoga
poses that will help
kids feel more relaxed
and confident:

8. Seated cat-cow
pose
The seated cat-cow pose is a great way to stretch the lower back
and hamstrings, while also helping to calm anxiety.
You can do this pose anywhere: on the floor, or your bed. Begin by
sitting with your legs extended out in front of you. Bend forward so
that both knees are resting on either side of the opposite thigh
(your heels should be touching). Then bring your palms together
over each knee as if in prayer, hold for 30 seconds then repeat three
more times for a total of five minutes per day.

The seated twist is a great way to help kids who have
difficulty sitting up straight. It's also an effective
exercise for an erect posture and building confidence.
To do the seated twist:
Sit on the floor with your legs crossed and feet flat on
either side of you (or in front). Bring one foot forward so
that it rests on top of the other leg, then cross those
ankles together at the ankles or knees depending on what
works best for you. Now press down into both feet as if
you were trying to make them bend at their knees while
keeping your back straight! This will help keep you
balanced upright without having too much weight
bearing down on one leg alone.

How to do a child's pose with a block: Lie on your back,
bend one knee and place the top of your foot flat on the
floor. Place a small cushion under your bottom leg, if you
wish to have more support. Grasp both hands around the
base of your spine. Inhale as you extend both arms over
your head while exhaling through your mouth. Hold this
position for 30 seconds or longer until you feel
comfortable in this position—but don’t force yourself! If it
feels too hard at first, try holding it less than that amount
until everything feels right for you.

11. Kneel on the floor with both knees bent, feet hip-width
apart, and toes pointing forward. Keep your back straight
as you stack one hand against the other under each knee;
this will help keep you balanced while stretching out your
legs further.
Side-angle leg stretch is a great way to stretch your
hamstrings, glutes, and lower back.

Shift weight onto one hip so that it rests against a wall or chair; place another hand flat on top
of that hip for support if needed (this helps keep balance). Hold here for 30 seconds before
switching sides for another 30 seconds each time until both sides are done working together!

Tree pose
Tree pose is one of the yoga poses that help you relieve stress and
anxiety. It also improves your concentration, strength, flexibility, and
balance.
Stand with feet together and hands at heart level (or prayer position).
Bend one knee, bringing the foot to rest against the inner thigh of your
other leg. Press palms together as you lift them up to chest level by
extending arms forward from shoulder height; this will help in
strengthening arms against gravity. Bend elbows so that they rest on sides
with palms facing down toward the floor; keep the head tilted slightly
forward so that eyes are looking straight ahead rather than down at toes
or hands below body level. Keep breathing deeply throughout the entire
pose
