2.  Television derived from Latin and Greek
words, which mean “far sight”.
 Television is a system for converting visual
images (with sound) into electrical signals,
transmitting them by radio or other means,
and displaying them electronically on a
screen.

starting in 1843 when inventor Alexander Bain introduced a
prototype version of a fax machine using the telegraph.

4.  The basic idea of television is "radio with pictures." In other
words, where radio transmits a sound signal (the information

8.  The first genuinely moving image was transmitted from one
machine to another in 1926. This was done by Scottish
inventor John Logie Baird and his partner, Oliver Hutchinson.
 Broadcasting began in the United States on the AM radio
band (550-1500 kHz). In 1930
 Picture quality was very poor, and the screens were only an
inch or so wide and were usually made up of only 30 to 60
lines.
 Mechanical television transmission by the BBC continued
until 1935, and in the Soviet Union until 1937.
 The mechanical TV didn’t last much longer, however - it was
outstripped by the electronic television in the 1930s.

10.  Electronic scanning system did
not require the mechanical spinning disk and through this system
we used cathode ray tubes to send live images.
 It was developed by Westinghouse
researcher Vladimir K. Zworykin. In 1923, he developed
a working electronic television.
 That did not require mechanical spinning and produce better
picture than previous system.

12.  Zworykin is credited with developing a TV receiver using a similar de
vice called kinescope, which was a cathode ray tube .
 The kinoscope was an electronic image scanner - essentially a
primitive television camera

telegraph and telephone lines was the only way of transmitting
television,
 In 1930, the leaders in television technology—RCA, GE,
and Westinghouse—joined forces to develop electronic television.

images were replaced completely by electronic methods that
could generate hundreds of horizontal bands at 30 frames per
second

18.  the lack of a television signal led to the birth of communit
y antenna television (CATV).
 In 1952 engineers
built systems that included a large, sensitive antenna that
brought in television signals from distant stations
 The antenna was usually placed on a
location just outside town that could receive television si
gnals.
 The system ran an antenna cable to a central
location in town from where a wire that carried the tele-
vision signals was connected to each individual home
that was willing to pay a fee for the television reception.

19.  González Camarena invented a color TV system in 1941 which
he patented in 1943 and used for his first experimental color
broadcasts in 1946.
 The CBS system used a mechanical
color wheel that transmitted a color signal.
 This first color program was a variety show simply called,
"Premiere”

cities: Boston, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington

satellite to transmit television signals from the US to
Japan.
 The first geosynchronous communication satellite,
Syncom 2, was launched on 26 July 1963.

major television networks adopted this style of communications as the main means of
distribution to network affiliates through 1984.
 In the mid-1990s, direct broadcast satellites (DBS)brought another television delivery system
to consumers. Using a small dish, rather than the large one used since the 1970s, consumers
could enjoy many high-quality channels for about the same price as cable. Two companies now
compete for subscribers nationally: the DISH Network and DirecTV

 PAL - Phase Alternating Line. Developed by German engineer
Walter Bruch who patented his invention 1963 and the first
commercial application of the PAL system was in August 1967.
Also a 625 h/50 v-line display and alternative of NTSC.

138 FM radio stations, including 40 non-commercial licenses to leading
universities offering courses mass communication and six licenses in
Azad Jammu and Kashmir; registered 2,346 cable TV systems serving
an estimated 8 million households.

Pakistan. The owner of this channel is Jang Group of Newspapers. It started it
transmission on 14th August 2002 and its regular and continuous transmission

 This news channel is owned by Government of Pakistan and is a 24 hours news
channel which provides news in English and Urdu to the Pakistani community
and in other languages also like Sindhi, Arabic, Pashto, Kashmiri and various
other regional languages.

 ARY news channel is launched on 26 September 2004 and is owned by ARY Group. This
channel is the part of ARY Network and is in English and Urdu language and is also having
its sister channels like ARY Digital, ARY Music. ARY QTV and ARY News also. This channel

performance.
 Express-News:
 Express news is a Pakistani Urdu news channel which was launched on January 1st, 2008
and was run by the Daily Express and the owner of this channel are Lakson Group. The
Express Media group has launched many of its other channels also. The news of this
channel is mostly liked by a number of the peoples.xpress-News.
 Dawn News
 DAWN News in one of Pakistan’s 24 hours broadcasting News Channel with slogan Raat
din Saat Din. Launched in 25th May 2007 for Test Transmission and on 23rd July 2007
start live transmission all over Pakistan. Its headquarter is located in Karachi and it only
broadcast in Pakistan.
