The INFO TAB…….Privacy
Info. Tab Purpose #1
                  First you must decide
                     your purpose for
                     being on facebook. Is
                     it for the social aspect
                     or for professional
                     gain? Once you
                     decide then it’s time
                     to focus on your
                     About Tab….
Info Tab Purpose #2
 Acts as a resume, list of
    accomplishments, marketing tool
Private Settings on Pictures
 For starters you can always type your question
in the help tab and answer options are readily
    available
 Quick steps: Settings, Privacy Setting….
 Be picture selective, talk to friends about
‘tag’, they show up under your name and not in
    your album
 DO NOT
    (weapons, drinks, vulgarity, locations, etc.)
Private Settings
WHAT NOT TO POST
ON FACEBOOK
What to consider NOT
posting on Facebook…..
 Your full birthdate (year): Privacy Rights Clearinghouse
advises that revealing your exact birthday and your
place of birth is like handing over your financial security
    to thieves.
 Your mother’s maiden name? Since it’s often the answer
to security questions on many sites," writes the New
    York Times
 Your home address: there have been instances in which
burglars have used Facebook to target users who said
    they were not at home.
What to consider NOT posting..

 Long or Short term vacations: when you
broadcast your vacation dates, you might be
         telling untrustworthy Facebook "friends" that
your house is empty and unwatched
 Monitor children names and pictures
 Risky Behavior (sky diving): additional reports
that insurance companies may adjust users'
premiums based what they post to Facebook

GROUPS - LISTS -
FAN PAGES

Learn how to use them to maximize your
  network…
Groups…
Why use them? People do business with who they know. They refer
resources to you when they feel as though they know you.

Where can I find groups? Under applications, beneath photo’s, create
a group. Left hand side profile, under message, events, friends etc.

   How do we use groups?
Share baby photos with close family
Chat with all the members of your band at once
   Shared docs for a project
   Network within industries
   Establish relationships
Learn and be a giver or info.

FORM YOUR OWN GROUP: https://www.facebook.com/about/groups
Create a targeted list…
You can use a targeted list to send notifications
to those in your network regarding:
      a. Entrepreneurial Endeavors
      b. Marketing a Product
      c. Industry specific newsletter

How to:
http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_to_create_facebook_group_mailing_list.html
FAN PAGES.. WHY follow?
 Fan Pages allow you to interact with and stay up-to-date on your
favorite public figures, organizations and businesses.

 When you become a fan of a Page, you are connecting with that
organization or public figure and will begin seeing status
updates, photos, videos and other posts from the Page. In most
cases you can interact with them.
Fan Page example…..
Fan pages…..How to?
 Type the name of the celebrity, artist, brand or company in the
search box in the upper-right corner of any page on Facebook.
From the results page, select the Pages filter in the left-side
menu to show only Page results. Click the "Become a Fan"
link next to the Page name and posts from that Page will begin
       appearing on your home page.

 If you already know the web address, or URL, of the Page you
want, simply type it in the address bar of your web browser.
For instance, to find Robert Half International on
Facebook, you can navigate directly to
       https://www.facebook.com/roberthalffinanceandaccounting .
From there, select the "Become a Fan" button next to the
       Page's name.

Facebook Tips: How do I find and "fan" a Page?
By: Morin Oluwole
Fan pages….wrap up
 Once you're a fan of a Page, it is listed on your profile and is
included in the list of Pages you're a fan of that's viewable to
"everyone" unless you have changed your "Search" privacy
         settings.
Remember that you always have the option to remove yourself as
a fan of any Page if you want to stop receiving updates or no
longer want to be connected. Go to the Page and click on the link
"Remove me from Fans" at the bottom of the left-side menu.
Check out the nearly 1.4 million active Pages on Facebook at
www.facebook.com/pages to start connecting and interacting with
your favorite celebrities, political leaders, media outlets, non-profit
organizations, TV shows, musicians, and much more.

Use Facebook Ads to Make
   Employers Hunt You Down

 Katelyn recently graduated from Abilene Christian University
with a degree in Electronic Media. She loves television and
movies and hopes to work in the entertainment industry, so
she targeted the Walt Disney Company with her Facebook
      advertising campaign.
   Her ad received 685 clicks, which garnered 21 e-mails and 4
Facebook messages. She was offered one job interview, but
wasn’t quite qualified for the position, so she declined. She
also had several e-mails from individuals who offered to
forward her resume to their supervisors. Many others offered
her general advice on finding a job with Disney or
commented on how creative they thought her ad campaign
      was.

In most cases you can interact with them.
  • 26. Fan pages…..How to?  Type the name of the celebrity, artist, brand or company in the search box in the upper-right corner of any page on Facebook. For instance, to find Robert Half International on Facebook, you can navigate directly to https://www.facebook.com/roberthalffinanceandaccounting . Source: http://mashable.com/2011/10/23/how-recruiters-use-social-networks-to-screen-candidates-infographic/ Over the past few years, we’ve seen social media used in the job market in a number of ways — startups, small businesses and large corporations alike are diving into the socialverse to find top talent, and job seekers are likewise getting creative with social media.Social media monitoring service Reppler recently surveyed more than 300 hiring professionals to determine when and how job recruiters are screening job candidates on different social networks. The study found that more than 90% of recruiters and hiring managers have visited a potential candidate’s profile on a social network as part of the screening process. And a whopping 69% of recruiters have rejected a candidate based on content found on his or her social networking profiles — an almost equal proportion of recruiters (68%), though, have hired a candidate based on his or her presence on those networks.
