Motivation (Basic Terms)
• Motivation- A psychological process resulting in goal
directed behaviour that satisfies human needs
• Needs- Feeling of deficit or lacking that all people
experience at some time
• Goal-directed behaviour- Behaviour that people use
with the intention of satisfying a need
• Reinforcement- Reactions to a persons behaviour that
encourage the person to continue the behaviour
• Punishment- Consequences of a persons behaviour
that discourage the behaviour
