AN OPEN LETTER FROM
JACKIE AND TIM HILL…
In 2013, the foundation received a very generous bequest from the
Edna and Jack Gentile family estate. Jackie Hill, their daughter,
encourages our donors to consider a bequest to the foundation as
part of their estate planning.
“Jack Gentile had the benefit of a strong Catholic education from
elementary school through college. Coupled with a career in
Human Resources, he had a keen understanding of the critical
importance of education.
Edna Gentile’s successful management career with the JC Penney
Corporation lead her to share Jack’s passion. Together they made
the estate planning decision to make a major contribution to the
Tyler Catholic School Foundation.
Their contribution will benefit students and their
families for generations to come.
We urge others who share Jack and Edna’s values to seriously
consider following their lead.”
Jackie and Tim Hill (daughter)
ECONOMIC BENEFITS OF
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIPS
By Tim Hill
Scholarship gifts to endowments are unique as they provide
multiple benefits. They provide financial support to our families
while providing a quality Catholic education.
In addition, the scholarship dollars turn into tuition dollars for
the Tyler Catholic schools enabling them to hire quality faculty
and purchase needed supplies and equipment. Finally, a significant
portion of the tuition dollars are spent locally in support of the
Tyler community.
This economic multiplier effect is a significant consideration in
supporting the Foundation.
23RD ANNUAL MILAM
JOSEPH GOLF TOURNAMENT
& INAUGURAL TENNIS
TOURNAMENT RESCHEDULED
The Tyler Catholic School Foundation will host its 23rd
Milam J. Joseph Golf Tournament on Monday, June 22, 2015 at
Willow Brook Golf Club. Originally scheduled for April 13, the
tournament was rescheduled due to inclement weather.
With plenty of time left to register, this year’s tournament includes
new prizes including a new driver, iron putter, golf caddy and
more. Complimentary golf towels, hats, goody bags and other
freebies will be provided.
The fun begins with 11:00 a.m. registration followed by lunch, tee
time at 12:30 pm. Golf format is a six player team, with a shot gun
start. Individual tickets are $150 and may be purchased the day of
the tournament. A team of six is $900.
For the first time, the foundation will jointly host a tennis
tournament, chaired by President-Elect Kara Camp. Tennis format
is a doubles round robin. For more information on the tennis
tournament, please contact Kara Camp at tylercamps@msn.com
The Tyler Catholic School Foundation (TCSF) was created in 1983 to
supplement tuition and to insure that anyone who has a sincere desire
to attend our schools can do so. In fact, 90% of our funds go to needy
students to aid in their tuition. Since its inception, TCSF has awarded
over $2.7 million in scholarships and the corpus has grown from
$100,000 to over $4 million. The Milan J. Joseph Golf Tournament
was started in 1993 to help raise funds that would benefit the students
within the Tyler Catholic Schools; St. Gregory Cathedral School and
Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Regional Catholic School.
For more information, or to discuss sponsorship opportunities,
please contact Nickie Murchison, Development Director at
903-526-5988 or nmurchsion@tcsf.net , or Kara Camp at
tylercamps@msn.com
The Foundation accepts all major credit cards.

AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCEDSTEFANIE SEPULVADO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
In 2014, The Tyler Catholic School Foundation in cooperation
with Bishop Gorman, hosted its first annual video contest. Open
to all middle school and high school students, students were asked
to produce a 3-5 minute video showcasing the value of a Catholic
education. The contest offered monetary awards generously given
by Group M7 Design Inc.
Winning first place, senior Kelly Frossard, was presented with a
cash prize at the 2014 Foundation’s Annual Awards Dinner from
President Collin Maloney. The short, moving video was presented
to the guests, who viewed it and quickly responded with a standing
ovation. It was a powerful portrayal and testimony written and
produced by a Catholic student. To many donors, the sentiments
echoed by the students in their videos represent the fundamental
reason for their ongoing support of Catholic education and the
Tyler Catholic School foundation.
On January 14, 2015, all award winners received their prizes
including: Kelly Frossard - 1st place, Sloane Salitore - 2nd place,
Bryan Joseph Cunningham - 3rd place, Gavin Broaddus - 4th place
and Joseph Mallari - 4th place (tie). Presenting the awards was
board member and development chair, Dr. Danny Jackman.
The foundation thanks all students who participated. We offer
special recognition to Mr. Jim Franz and Barbara King for their
help in publicity and coordination. Our thanks again to Michael &
Suzann Mahfood for their continued support.
Francis and Carol
Sepulvado recently
established a scholarship
in loving memory of
their daughter, Stefanie.
The Stefanie Sepulvado
Memorial Scholarship
is the latest of 122
scholarships currently held
at the foundation. Gifts to
her fund may be mailed to
the foundation office.
We recently visited with Stefanie’s mother, Carol.
Q. Carol, thanks for taking time to see us.
Could you please tell us about Stefanie and
why you decided to create this scholarship at
the foundation?
We created this scholarship in Stefanie’s memory
to benefit the children of St. Gregory Elementary
School. Stefanie was an alumni of St. Gregory and
Gorman, she truly loved the catholic school system
and was proud to have been a recipient of Catholic
education. It was the foundation that not only lead
to her success with education and learning but with
her career and most importantly it helped to build
her moral and Christian values. She always said
her education at Gorman helped establish a pattern
she followed the rest of her life. It was also at St.
Gregory and Gorman that she made the some of the
most important and lasting relationships of her life.
Q. What was Stefanie’s profession?
Stefanie was a PICU nurse at Texas Children’s
Hospital. One of the things that most defined
Stefanie was her love of children. A co-worker
commented that she always had a smile on her
face and a baby in her arms. Her legacy was
the hundreds of children she helped when they
were most vulnerable, when they were sick and
defenseless, the difference she made in their lives
and the lives of their families. She wanted each and
every child to feel loved and special.
For those of us lucky enough to have known her
she will always live in our hearts and our memories.
She was a sweet loving young woman with a quirky
and wonderful sense of humor. I think she would
be beyond honored to have this scholarship in her
memory for one of the most important things in
her life – to help children.
THANK YOU
LETTERS TO YOU,
OUR GENEROUS
DONORS
“Our family would like to thank
you for the generous donation
that assisted us in the tuition for
our two girls. It was a blessing
and a prayer answered.”
“We are so happy we made the
decision for the children to go
to St. Gregory and are forever
grateful that your assistance
made it possible.”
“I am writing you today to
express my sincere appreciation
for my recent scholarship award.
I am humbled to be the recipient
of this generosity.”

Open to all middle school and high school students, students were asked to produce a 3-5 minute video showcasing the value of a Catholic education. The contest offered monetary awards generously given by Group M7 Design Inc. Winning first place, senior Kelly Frossard, was presented with a cash prize at the 2014 Foundation’s Annual Awards Dinner from President Collin Maloney. The short, moving video was presented to the guests, who viewed it and quickly responded with a standing ovation. It was a powerful portrayal and testimony written and produced by a Catholic student. To many donors, the sentiments echoed by the students in their videos represent the fundamental reason for their ongoing support of Catholic education and the Tyler Catholic School foundation. On January 14, 2015, all award winners received their prizes including: Kelly Frossard - 1st place, Sloane Salitore - 2nd place, Bryan Joseph Cunningham - 3rd place, Gavin Broaddus - 4th place and Joseph Mallari - 4th place (tie). Presenting the awards was board member and development chair, Dr. Danny Jackman. The foundation thanks all students who participated. We offer special recognition to Mr. Jim Franz and Barbara King for their help in publicity and coordination. Our thanks again to Michael & Suzann Mahfood for their continued support. Francis and Carol Sepulvado recently established a scholarship in loving memory of their daughter, Stefanie. The Stefanie Sepulvado Memorial Scholarship is the latest of 122 scholarships currently held at the foundation. Gifts to her fund may be mailed to the foundation office. We recently visited with Stefanie’s mother, Carol. Q. Carol, thanks for taking time to see us. Could you please tell us about Stefanie and why you decided to create this scholarship at the foundation? We created this scholarship in Stefanie’s memory to benefit the children of St. Gregory Elementary School. Stefanie was an alumni of St. Gregory and Gorman, she truly loved the catholic school system and was proud to have been a recipient of Catholic education. It was the foundation that not only lead to her success with education and learning but with her career and most importantly it helped to build her moral and Christian values. She always said her education at Gorman helped establish a pattern she followed the rest of her life. It was also at St. Gregory and Gorman that she made the some of the most important and lasting relationships of her life. Q. What was Stefanie’s profession? Stefanie was a PICU nurse at Texas Children’s Hospital. One of the things that most defined Stefanie was her love of children. A co-worker commented that she always had a smile on her face and a baby in her arms. Her legacy was the hundreds of children she helped when they were most vulnerable, when they were sick and defenseless, the difference she made in their lives and the lives of their families. She wanted each and every child to feel loved and special. For those of us lucky enough to have known her she will always live in our hearts and our memories. She was a sweet loving young woman with a quirky and wonderful sense of humor. I think she would be beyond honored to have this scholarship in her memory for one of the most important things in her life – to help children. THANK YOU LETTERS TO YOU, OUR GENEROUS DONORS “Our family would like to thank you for the generous donation that assisted us in the tuition for our two girls. It was a blessing and a prayer answered.” “We are so happy we made the decision for the children to go to St. Gregory and are forever grateful that your assistance made it possible.” “I am writing you today to express my sincere appreciation for my recent scholarship award. I am humbled to be the recipient of this generosity.” 2 Spring/Summer 2015 Newsletter Stefanie Sepulvado Student Winners with Dr. Jackman Left to right: Gavin Broaddus, Joseph Mallari, Bryan Joseph Cunningham, Dr. Danny Jackman, Sloane Salitore and Kelly Frossard. 2014 Milam Joseph Golf Tournament scholarship winners left to right: Emma Saurette, Augustine D’ Eramo, Connor Bate 2014 Milam Joseph Golf Tournament scholarship winners left to right: Andrew Nicolas Culpepper, Leanne Johnson, Katherine Trammell
