Making 'Things' talk: Why we need voice interfaces for the IoT

18 602 vues

Publié le

It’s projected that 33 billion devices will be connected by the year 2020 – devices built for a myriad of environments and use cases. Connectivity in the age of the Internet of Things means these devices offer new levels of intelligence – but sometimes that means added complexity and confusing user interfaces. That’s why voice is gaining popularity as an interface: it’s natural, and intuitive. Now it’s up to developers to build the right voice experiences for the IoT.

  25. 25. © 2016 Nuance Communications, Inc. All rights reserved. 25 You wouldn’t talk to your thermostat the same way as your smartfridge, or talk to your coffee maker the same way as your home robot, right?

  35. 35. © 2016 Nuance Communications, Inc. All rights reserved. 35 Without a customized speech and NLU model, you could choose to hard-code that sentence and map it to the appropriate functions in your app. This is funny? If (UserSaid == “Vincent, do something funny.”) { putHatOn(“red”, “party”) { }
  36. 36. © 2016 Nuance Communications, Inc.
