PROJECT OBJECTIVE
To measure the dimensions (length and
height) of objects that are coming through
conveyor belt , sensed by the sensors &
placed in allocated areas which is
predetermined.
There are two primary modes of operation
on which the task perform.
Automatically or manually
BACKGROUND
We have chosen a path to implement our innovative ideas in the form of this
project named as OVERHEAD BRIDGE ELECTROMAGNETIC CRANE. The
basic concept, which is emerged out from our project is to handling
objects over a certain height.
• Overhead cranes are designed to a specific application and location. Our
crane contain electromagnet hoist..
• Even in a production line of many products, electromagnetic lifts are used
to lift and move metal objects.
• Electromagnets have special simplicity and many advantages to other
lifting tools. They are faster and easier to work with.
Features of project
There are various FEATURES of our project. It can offer number of advantages to the
user. Our project has some of the most countable features that have mentioned
below:-
• Automatic: In automatic transmission object should be placed without human
interface.
•
• Manual Manual operation permits the user to make use of a joystick
•
• Place objects in its compartments/
•
• Electro magnetically pick and drop of objects.
•
• Weight handles up to 500grams.
•
• Display length and height of the object o on LCD.

PROJECT PARTS
The Overhead Bridge Electromagnetic Crane is
divided into two basic parts:
• Electronic part
This part of the project consist of electronic circuitry and all the
electronic devices which is used to work together with the mechanical
structure .
• Mechanical part
Mechanical part of the project is consist of the basic structure of the
electromagnetic bridge crane and the conveyor belt which is used to
move objects and is operated by the software.

• LIMIT SWITCHES
Why we used 89c52
• CISC architecture….less coding when compared
PIC & AVR microcontroller
• 89c52 controller are easy to programmable.
• 89C52 controller has 8k bytes of flash
programmable and erasable read only memory.
• The AT89C52 is a low-power, high-performance CMOS
• 89c52 is lower cost than other microcontroller i.e.
PIC,AVR etc.
• 89c52 is commonly available in market.
VEXTA STEPPER DRIVER
Two 5phase stepper drivers
are used for driving steppers
of trolley and hoist. This
driver is interface with
microcontroller and stepper
motors the clock rate of this
drives are controlled by the
microcontroller.
STEPPER MOTOR
Two hi torque 5 phase
stepper motors are used in
trolley and bridge movement
system. This stepping motors
are interfaced with the
Microcontroller, when the
signal is received the motor
starts to work with the help of
vexta stepper driver.
DC GEAR MOTOR
DC gear motor operates on 12
volts and is controlled by the
Microcontroller. Two DC gear
motors are present here; one is
on conveyor belt system and
second is on hoist movement
system. The motors are
interfaced with the
Microcontroller, when the signal
is received the motor starts to
work.
ELECTROMAGNET
Round and Rectangular Flat-
Faced Electromagnets are
used for lifting objects in
manually operated or
automated operation.
Electromagnet is operating at
15vDC. Flat-Faced magnets
should only be used on flat,
smooth material where the
entire magnet face is in
contact.
LCD
• We use 16*2character
display Lcd.
• It will display
parameters length &
height
PHOTOELECTRIC SENSOR
A photoelectric sensor is a
device used to detect the
distance, absence, or
presence of an object by
using a light transmitter,
often infrared, and a
photoelectric receiver. The
detection way is a scattered
reflection type and the
maximum detection distance
range is 30cm. three
photoelectric sensors are
used for measurement of
object dimension.
Photo coupler
PC 817 photo coupler is a
device that uses a short
optical transmission path to
transfer an electronic signal
between elements of circuits
By keeping them electrically
isolated.
LIMIT SWITCH
Limit switches can be used to
control the motions of
machines, for example, to
indicate that a motor has
reached its full position or that
a machine tool is in a position
to accept another work piece.
CONVEYOR BELT SYSTEM
• We use 2ft long and 6inches wide conveyor
belt.
• This can be controlled by stepper motor also.
• Laser sensors and receivers are also fitted into
the structure of conveyor belt

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT
• Wireless joystick
Our project contain wired joystick panel which
would be change with any latest radio technology to
control the operation of crane wirelessly.
Hoist modifications
Our project contain electromagnetic hoist, which
lift only iron-steel related objects. As for future
enhancement could be use to lift different material
objects.
• Hooks-end
• Grabber jaws
• Hydraulically pick objects etc.
CONCLUSION
Automated lifting of the object with respect to it length and
height vise will revolutionalize the iron- steel related Industry.
It will offer a better, inexpensive method to reduce man
power. Secure lifting is offered and man power is decreased.
This project offers the following facilities.
• Superior Controlling.
• Easy flash based programmable.
• A Reliable Solution for iron related industries.

  • 4. PROJECT OBJECTIVE To measure the dimensions (length and height) of objects that are coming through conveyor belt , sensed by the sensors & placed in allocated areas which is predetermined. There are two primary modes of operation on which the task perform. Automatically or manually
  • 5. BACKGROUND We have chosen a path to implement our innovative ideas in the form of this project named as OVERHEAD BRIDGE ELECTROMAGNETIC CRANE. The basic concept, which is emerged out from our project is to handling objects over a certain height. • Overhead cranes are designed to a specific application and location. Our crane contain electromagnet hoist.. • Even in a production line of many products, electromagnetic lifts are used to lift and move metal objects. • Electromagnets have special simplicity and many advantages to other lifting tools. They are faster and easier to work with.
  • 6. Features of project There are various FEATURES of our project. It can offer number of advantages to the user. Our project has some of the most countable features that have mentioned below:- • Automatic: In automatic transmission object should be placed without human interface. • • Manual Manual operation permits the user to make use of a joystick • • Place objects in its compartments/ • • Electro magnetically pick and drop of objects. • • Weight handles up to 500grams. • • Display length and height of the object o on LCD.

PROJECT PARTS The Overhead Bridge Electromagnetic Crane is divided into two basic parts: • Electronic part This part of the project consist of electronic circuitry and all the electronic devices which is used to work together with the mechanical structure . • Mechanical part Mechanical part of the project is consist of the basic structure of the electromagnetic bridge crane and the conveyor belt which is used to move objects and is operated by the software.

Why we used 89c52 • CISC architecture….less coding when compared PIC & AVR microcontroller • 89c52 controller are easy to programmable. • 89C52 controller has 8k bytes of flash programmable and erasable read only memory. • The AT89C52 is a low-power, high-performance CMOS • 89c52 is lower cost than other microcontroller i.e. PIC,AVR etc. • 89c52 is commonly available in market.
  • 12. VEXTA STEPPER DRIVER Two 5phase stepper drivers are used for driving steppers of trolley and hoist. This driver is interface with microcontroller and stepper motors the clock rate of this drives are controlled by the microcontroller.
  • 13. STEPPER MOTOR Two hi torque 5 phase stepper motors are used in trolley and bridge movement system. This stepping motors are interfaced with the Microcontroller, when the signal is received the motor starts to work with the help of vexta stepper driver.
  • 14. DC GEAR MOTOR DC gear motor operates on 12 volts and is controlled by the Microcontroller. Two DC gear motors are present here; one is on conveyor belt system and second is on hoist movement system. The motors are interfaced with the Microcontroller, when the signal is received the motor starts to work.
  • 15. ELECTROMAGNET Round and Rectangular Flat- Faced Electromagnets are used for lifting objects in manually operated or automated operation. Electromagnet is operating at 15vDC. Flat-Faced magnets should only be used on flat, smooth material where the entire magnet face is in contact.
  • 16. LCD • We use 16*2character display Lcd. • It will display parameters length & height

PHOTOELECTRIC SENSOR A photoelectric sensor is a device used to detect the distance, absence, or presence of an object by using a light transmitter, often infrared, and a photoelectric receiver. The detection way is a scattered reflection type and the maximum detection distance range is 30cm. three photoelectric sensors are used for measurement of object dimension.
  • 18. Photo coupler PC 817 photo coupler is a device that uses a short optical transmission path to transfer an electronic signal between elements of circuits By keeping them electrically isolated.
  • 19. LIMIT SWITCH Limit switches can be used to control the motions of machines, for example, to indicate that a motor has reached its full position or that a machine tool is in a position to accept another work piece.
  • 20. CONVEYOR BELT SYSTEM • We use 2ft long and 6inches wide conveyor belt. • This can be controlled by stepper motor also. • Laser sensors and receivers are also fitted into the structure of conveyor belt

  • 25. FUTURE ENHANCEMENT • Wireless joystick Our project contain wired joystick panel which would be change with any latest radio technology to control the operation of crane wirelessly. Hoist modifications Our project contain electromagnetic hoist, which lift only iron-steel related objects. As for future enhancement could be use to lift different material objects. • Hooks-end • Grabber jaws • Hydraulically pick objects etc.
  • 26. CONCLUSION Automated lifting of the object with respect to it length and height vise will revolutionalize the iron- steel related Industry. It will offer a better, inexpensive method to reduce man power. Secure lifting is offered and man power is decreased.
