This document discusses how space and satellite technology can add value to "servitization", which is the transformation of businesses toward more service-oriented models. Specifically, it discusses how the Galileo and Copernicus satellite systems in Europe can provide location data and earth observation data to enable new mobile services. Examples are given of services related to traffic management in cities, organic farming, and air quality monitoring. The document also outlines some European Union initiatives aimed at supporting the development and demonstration of satellite-enabled mobile services.
