EdisonLearning eCourses take online learning to its highest potential by leveraging
the opportunity for customized instruction.
Based on highly researched methodology and unique industry experience, EdisonLearning
eCourses are designed to personally engage 21st century students.

• Multi-media engagement Lessons are introduced and reinforced using multiple learning
styles and media. Highlights include videos, podcasts, interactive activities, customized
printable textbooks, messaging, digital notebooks, printable textbooks, forums, blogs, and an
interactive Research Center that incorporates Web 2.0 technologies and social networking
• Individualized learning Instruction can be adapted to each student’s needs and interests.
Modular courses can be modified using the custom course
builder to align to your specific scope and sequence.
eAcademy provides students the content
they are expected to learn, when they are
expected to learn it.
30. Intervention Informs Instruction
Interventions keep students on the right track toward end-of-year standards.
Interventions are built into eAcademy assessments so that teachers and parents
can access a detailed report of student performance on any given assessment.
This allows for increased customization of the overall learning experience.
If an Intervention Alert is issued, students are assigned a specific Task to complete
before being re-assessed on the lesson. Tasks can include review of literature,
exercises or live one-on-one tutoring with a teacher.
The foundation of EdisonLearning’s approach to education
The Four Cornerstones approach ensures that EdisonLearning solutions are holistic – both comprehensive and cohesive, with all parts interacting and supporting one another for a whole that is far more than the sum of its parts.

The responsibility of this teacher is to oversee the student’s experience with the school and to provide feedback to student and family on all school related functions from field trips to state mandated testing.
Asynchronous GraderThis highly qualified instructor is responsible for grading all work submitted in the online courses that they are assigned. As all cumulative assessments are 25% open ended responses this teacher must correct student work within 3 days of student submission of an assessment.

Each EdisonLearning eCourse contains 180 individual lessons (45 lessons per 9 week part). Every lesson focuses on one or two standards-based objectives that are clear and attainable. This structure helps students maintain focus and motivation by accomplishing achievable goals in each lesson, a technique which has been shown to foster success in online learning. Each lesson can be delivered as a standalone that contains clear prerequisite skill identification.
This Modular Structure allows the courses to be adapted to individual student needs and enables application to varied academic situations. Full-year courses consist of 4 parts, each containing 3 units of 15 lessons each. Assessments are given at the end of each lesson, unit, and part.
EdisonLearning’s daily assessment and tracking system is included with each course. The system allows immediate intervention when students fall below school-defined achievement levels.

+ the Research Center… NEXT SLIDE….
Research Center
To further engage students with their course work, the highly interactive Research Center offers a true-to-life learning environment for students, teachers and advisors, and administrators. The various activities and features of the Research Center are based on a virtual world where students travel through different chat room environments. Navigating through buildings, rooms, fl oors and doors, students, as their own custom “avatars,” tour a virtual world of content interacting with each other and their instructors along the way.
Students can see other avatars in a room as they enter and live chat. They can also keep a “friends” list - as they would on other social networks. The heightened engagement that results from use of these dynamic features aids in skill acquisition and the collaborative environment encourages students to help each other with coursework.
Students can…
Enjoy the Arcade when interventions are completed.
Collaborate with students and teachers in the Learning Lab.
Share art and creative works in the Art Gallery. The Art Gallery encourages extracurricular achievement and builds community.
Experience lesson content coming to life in the Sabotage STEM activity/game.
Visit the World Language HQ and learn while they play the SAGA activity
Students can access content residing on multiple learning systems, as well as view grades, academic progress, and announcements, and communicate with teachers in one consolidated view.
Teachers/Advisors can assess student activity, attendance, log-in duration and content accessed, communicate with students and parents, manage grades and generate custom reports.
Parents can monitor academic progress, grades, attendance, and course work, and communicate with instructors.
Administrators can set up and administer courses and scheduling, enrollment and registration, materials fulfillment, and transcripts, as well as generate state and other essential reporting.
Instructional Tools provide users with real time information on progress towards achievement goals, and the means to deliver interventions for students who need them. In addition, this toolset fosters the creation of a community that engages students, teachers and advisors, parents and administrators… all key individuals in the drive for student success.
Research shows the positive correlation that effective communication has on student achievement. So in an environment where educators, parents, and students have limited face-to-face contact, apprehension is expected.
