3. CORPORATE
Goal 1: Create opportunity for corporations to invest in
PMISSC
Objective 1: Develop sponsorship program whereby
members receive a positive return on their investment
Goal 2: Build relationships with Corporate and STEM partners
that benefit PMISSC members and the corporations
Objective 1: Create impactful volunteer opportunities for
members, corporate and STEM participants
Objective 2: Provide educational and/or training forums to
educate participants on PMI best practices
Objective 3: Obtain underwriting to offset the cost to
provide specific training and/or consulting services
4. EDUCATION
Goal 1: Build relationships and partnerships with high schools,
colleges and universities to establish a culture of program
management that will ultimately prepare students for the workplace.
Objective 1: Leverage PMIEF material to deliver PM based
learning and professional development opportunities
Goal 2: Offer CAPM/PMP prep courses and other professional
development opportunities to students at reduced cost
Objective 1: Obtain underwriting to offset the cost
Goal 3: Offer scholarships to students
Objective 1: Increase the scholarship dollars available to
students pursuing project management
5. Education Partnership Approach
As new opportunities arise, the Outreach Committee will implement
the following:
• Conduct market research on prospective institutions
• Schedule in-person meeting with prospective institution to
understand their needs and requirements
• If Silver Spring PMI chapter can meet their needs, establish
and distribute a Memorandum of Understanding between the
two entities
• Develop project plan/expected deliverables with Milestones
and distribute to institution
• Establish pool of PMISSC members that can assist education
outreach initiatives
• Memorialize event through photos
• Document lessons learned from each event/assignment
• Encourage students to become members of PMISSC to
further their PM body of knowledge
6. COMMUNITY
Goal 1: Share the good news about project management as a
profession and life skill to community based organizations
Objective 1: Leverage PMI Education Foundation outreach
material to develop project management focused learning
opportunities
Objective 2: Partner with community based groups to include
faith based, STEM and not-for-profit organizations
Goal 2: Build and mature the project management understanding,
value and capacity of community organizations
Objective 1: Leverage resources and collaborate with other PMI
Chapters
7. 2015 Accomplishments
• Provided project management life cycle support to Asbury
United Methodist Church in WDC. One year effort w/one year
option
• Funded two $1,000 scholarships awarded by PMI Education
Foundation
• Received PMI Chapter Award for Collaboration & Outreach,
Category II from PMI Global
• Helped secure $17,500 in sponsorship for the 2015 PMISSC
Actionable Intelligence Symposium
• INCOSE
• Participated in a project management information session at
Stevenson University, with the graduate program Heath Care
Management students
