Anil Ambani Group.
HISTORY OF RELIANCE JIO
 In June 2010, RIL bought a 96% stake in Infotel Broadband
Services Limited (IBSL) for Rs. 4800 crore.
 Later continuing as RIL's telecom subsidiary, Infotel Broadband
Services Limited was renamed as Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited
(RJIL) in January 2013.
IMPACT OF LUNCHING JIO
 The services were first launched to Jio's employees on 27th
December 2015 on the eve of 83rd birth anniversary of late
Dhirubhai Ambani, founder of Reliance Industries, and later
services were commercially launched on 5th September 2016.
 Jio offers Free unlimited data for 3 months and free voice calls
and sms was the way they entered the market.
 When Mukesh Ambani announced the ideas and plans of Jio
which shook the industry. Share prices of Airtel, Vodafone, and
Idea fell considerably when the launch of Jio was made.
 At the price point and service quality, there are virtually no
competitors of RJIL.
BETA LAUNCH
 Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan, who is also the brand
ambassador of Jio, kickstarted the launch event which took place
in Reliance Corporate Park in Navi Mumbai. along with celebrities
like musician AR Rahman, actors Ranbir Kapoor and Javed Jaffrey,
and filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani.
JIO 4G BROADBAND SERVICES
 RJIL also launces broadband services and Jio 4G Broadband is one
of the game-changers.
 And also launces Jio-fi.
 With Jio 4G broadband, people may be able to access high-speed
broadband for as low as Rs. 50 per GB.
LYF SMARTPHONES
 Jio had earlier tied up with Intex for providing handsets with 4G
VolTe technology all over the country. They manufactured several
models low on cost and high on features- ready for the next level
of 4G and voice telephony.
 However, they soon decide to launce their own brand of phones.
They named the range as Lyf phones.
 LYF phones are directly sold though its retail outlets.
JIO APPS
 Jio Apps- announced free till 2017, are one of the major ideas of
investment of RJIL.
 JioTV – live TV services
 JioCinema – just like Netflix, a video library.
 JioMusic – music player and subscription model.
 JioMags- Magazine reader and subscriptions
 JioSecurity – Security app
 JioDrive – Cloud storage app
 JioMoney Wallet – like Paytm.
 Etc.
