Security Systems Asia Pacific Newsletter
NEST
Contents
Dear Readers,
The development of modern metropolis in Asia Pacific has exceeded the wildest
imagination of any classic Sci-Fi movie. According to a research conducted in 2010,
the urbanization in Asia Pacific countries has triggered the unprecedented growth
of mega-cities, whose population exceeds 10 million. Among the world’s 21 mega-
cities in 2010, 12 are in Asia, including 7 of the largest 10 cities, such as Tokyo,
Delhi, Mumbai, Shanghai and Manila.
Surprisingly, what is happening at mega-cities is only at the tip of the iceberg,
because about 60% of the urban population in Asia lives in cities with a population
of less than one million. This mega trend of urbanization in Asia Pacific has made it
a challenge for municipal management to safeguard citizens’ lives and property with
an increasing size of population in cities.
With this issue of NEST news, we would like to share with you how Bosch answers
this question with its comprehensive security and communication solutions. One
of which is the invincible MIC Series 550 camera which has been hailed as a new
urban hero as it can excel even in the toughest surveillance conditions. And you can
read more about its features in the exclusive MIC Series 550 postcard created for
you this issue.
We are currently looking for six talented young singers or bands in the “Be Electro-
Voiced” contest, where participants will upload their performing videos on the
EV Facebook page and the best performers are honoured every two months. The
inaugural winner was recently unveiled – Aman Chibber, a male singer who comes
from India. Check out his winning video and we warmly welcome you to join the
contest and reel in the excitement too!

Bosch introduces the FlexiDome HD 1080p Day/
Night IP cameras, new additions to the Bosch
high definition (HD) portfolio. The high quality
cameras achieve best-in-class performance,
combining full HD resolution images with
excellent low light operation and color reproduction. They deliver
uncompromising vision even in busy, colorful scenes.
FlexiDome HD 1080p Day/Night IP cameras feature a new design.
Constructed with careful attention to detail, the cameras have an
extended operating temperature range making them ideal for hot
or cold climates (from -50°C to +55°C). Also, the rugged IP66-
rated dome can take on the worst weather conditions.
The cameras’ next generation design incorporates a flat window
that aligns with the lens, eliminating the bubble (unfocused) effect
caused by the protective cover in traditional HD dome designs.
Operators can zoom in to any part of a scene to examine specific
details without losing clarity.
Ideal for a wide range of applications requiring discreet or
rugged surveillance, FlexiDome HD 1080p Day/Night IP cameras
are especially suited to complex, colorful or low light scenes.
Examples include city surveillance and public safety, arenas,
airports, finance and banking, and casinos.
Including interface advancements, enlarged vendor independency
and compatibility with the latest Windows Internet Explorer 9,
Bosch Security Systems introduces a number of updates to its
Building Integration System (BIS). The new version 2.5 increases
the range of supported devices to more than 1,000 different third
party cameras and encoders. The new system allows further
optimized security, safety and communication management in one
front-end system with customized user interface.
The range of video devices supported by BIS 2.5 is unmatched in
the industry. It seamlessly interoperates with virtually any video
camera, connecting to the latest IP cameras on the market with
HD and H.264 encoding technology. The Divar 700 and Bosch
Recording Station are supported in their most recent versions.
BIS 2.5 benefits installers and end users alike: certified BIS
partners and systems integrators enjoy an upgraded level of
customization options, such as new layout formats for a wide
range of monitor sizes (including 16:9 and 16:10). Thanks to
numerous handy improvements, such as useful additions to the
symbol libraries, it is now even easier to personalize the system.
New Bosch FlexiDome HD 1080p Day/

New version of Building Integration System
Bosch adds
Intelligent Tracking
to AutoDome 700
Series IP cameras
Bosch Security Systems is significantly
expanding its Advantage Line range. By adding
new video products, and, for the first time, fire
and public address solutions, the customer
can now organize complete security and audio
systems for any small to mid-sized application. Up to now, only
video solutions were part of the Advantage Line.
“Due to the success of the first wave of the Advantage Line, we are
happy to introduce this second pillar of products onto the market,”
says Gert van Iperen, President of Bosch Security Systems. “The
enhanced line is designed to match the growing demands of
installers and customers for price-competitive security and safety
products for smaller installations.”
The Advantage Line now includes public address and fire
detection products. This incorporates a comprehensive range
of mixer amplifiers, microphones, ceiling loudspeakers and
speaker cabinets from the Bosch Public Address systems range.
One of the additions to the fire device segment is the popular
Conventional Fire Panel 500 Series, which is specifically designed
for shops, warehouses, office buildings and schools. Furthermore,
it comprises three different panel types for up to eight zones and
256 detectors. The Automatic Fire Detector 320 Series and the
discreet, flush-mount Smoke Detector 500 Series will also be
available in the new format. These state-of-the-art devices offer
a maximum of protection and reliability combined with ease of
maintenance.
Bosch Security Systems announces the new Intelligent Tracking
feature for AutoDome 700 Series IP pan-tilt-zoom cameras.
This is due to the new firmware 5.51. Intelligent Tracking uses
AutoDome’s built-in Intelligent Video Analysis (IVA) to constantly
monitor scenes for motion and automatically track objects moving
within the camera range.
AutoDome cameras equipped with Intelligent Tracking present a
major asset to overall surveillance, supporting security personnel
with a powerful automated monitoring system to ensure targets’
activities are not missed. With this feature, customers can use the
IVA from Bosch to stipulate tasks or conditions that will instantly
activate tracking. For example, the camera can be programmed to
follow vehicles that move through an area in a specific direction.
Operators can also trigger tracking of objects by clicking on a
moving target within live video to prompt the camera to keep it in
a scene with pan, tilt or zoom actions.
Using an advanced algorithm, the AutoDome 700 series IP dome
with Intelligent Tracking outperforms other moving cameras, as it
will resume tracking a target after it passes behind a privacy mask
or if it is temporarily concealed by a stationary object. AutoDome
continuously tracks the target when it reappears or if motion is
detected along the same trajectory.

City governments face the challenge of reassuring citizens and
businesses by preventing and minimizing potential threats. These
include vandalism, burglary, and all other forms of crime. There is
also a need to ensure efficient processes in everyday public life,
for instance managing traffic and crises.
Like in the City of Wanneroo, Australia, where the population
size has reached 156,000 and is set to double by 2031, assaults
and other forms of violent crime were issues which had to be
addressed. Hence the City of Wanneroo representatives along
with local police and businesses needed a system that would
not only deter crime, vandalism and other anti-social behaviour
in region, but also allow identification of offenders of crime and
ensured the City of Wanneroo is a safe place to live in.
IP video surveillance creates safety
Bosch offers a wide range of networked solutions for efficiently
monitoring public areas in cities and effectively managing
security, safety, and communications. Bosch IP networked video
surveillance is one part of the portfolio. It allows cities to take a
major step toward mastering these challenges. It provides a host of
benefits that enable faster detection and prosecution of accidents
and crimes and, in many cases, constitute effective deterrents to
prevent crimes from being committed in the first place.
An IP video surveillance project has now made the City of Wanneroo
much safer for pedestrians. The system monitors each of six
locations with a Bosch AutoDome 300 Series PTZ camera and two
fixed AutoDome 100 Series dome cameras, plus two Bosch Dinion
fixed domes at the municipal library. They are interlinked by a
fiber-optic network and IP technology. Video footage is stored for
one month on an 18TB HP Raid 5 array. Assaults and other forms
of violent crime have decreased significantly in the monitored
areas as a result.
Likewise in Borough of Gedling in Nottinghamshire, UK, which is
home to almost 112,000 people, the Bosch IP Wireless Solution
has proved to be a winning formula in protecting the local
residents from petty and serious crime as part of a much wider
crime and disorder partnership initiative.
Under the city, the four town centres – Arnold, Mapperley, Carlton
and Netherfield – made maximum use of some of the camera,
encoder, recording and video management hardware and software
from Bosch’s proven CCTV product range.
Chris Lazzari, Director of installer Central Security Systems (CSS),
a leading specialist in local authority CCTV solutions explained:
“We chose Bosch because of the quality and reliability of its
products, notably the high resolution images from its cameras,
even over IP, and the quality of its streaming. Being wireless means
no hard wiring was required, making installation much easier but
without sacrificing quality.”
Bright lights, big city, and probably greater danger. Cities are growing rapidly and it is estimated that by 2050,
another three billion or so people will be living in urban instead of rural areas. This trend poses new challenges
for society which is already increasing the need to improve and reinforce existing security concepts.
Creating SmarterCities
Bosch offers a wide range of networked solutions to
effectively manage security, safety, and communications.
14
An integrated security system
Amongst the cameras installed there is a mixture of 14 Bosch
domes and fixed Dinion IPs. Images are transmitted over wireless
IP back to a central monitoring station with 8TB of storage, making
maximum use of Bosch’s VIP-X IP encoders and VIDOS IP video
management software.
Kevin Nealon of Gedling Borough Council says: “We wanted a
town centre CCTV system that was reliable, relatively low cost
but very high quality, and that could be linked in with other parts
of the Borough. Bosch’s equipment gives us the ability to do this.
Our vision is that the system will ultimately become the hub for
a whole range of other agencies including the Neighbourhood
Wardens, Police, Police Community Support Officers and the
Fire and Rescue Service etc, in line with our commitment for a
Borough that is healthy, safe, clean and green.”
Governmental bodies are therefore embracing advanced
technologies for enhancing security and safety as efficiently
and reliably as possible. With that, there is a growing need for
user-friendly, intelligent systems that are easily integrated with
multiple other systems, such as those that link and coordinate the
responses of police, fire departments, and hospitals to accidents
or natural disasters.
Importance of image quality
Bosch’s comprehensive portfolio of innovative, reliable, high-
quality products for implementing a city surveillance solution has
proven highly dependable and reliable.
When a crime is committed during a street demonstration, CCTV
surveillance helps security forces take rapid, targeted action.
Recorded footage can also be presented in court as evidence.
Hence the quality of the footage has to be perfect.
Last year in March, the UK’s North East Lincolnshire Council
carried out a major overhaul of its CCTV surveillance infrastructure,
selecting Bosch’s rugged, MIC Series pan-tilt-zoom cameras to be
at the centre of its new surveillance network. The superior quality
of the images captured by the MIC Series cameras which included
assaults, thefts and acts of vandalism made identifying offenders
far quicker, easier and therefore more useful to the Police.
Ready to protect the city
While the responsibility to ensure a safe and smart city is huge,
Bosch has proven to be more than ready to fulfill the commitment
to meet and overcome security challenges in cities, keeping the
people and society well-protected.

The City of Wanneroo was one of the 25 regions requested to place
together a project to support the Australian Government’s ‘Safer
Suburbs Plan’. Along with an additional grant from the WA State
Government, the City of Wanneroo had to implement a system
that would not only deter crime, vandalism and other anti-social
behaviour in region but also allow identification of offenders of
crime and ensure the City of Wanneroo is safe.
The City of Wanneroo representatives along with local police and
businesses worked closely together to determine the areas that
needed to be covered to ensure effective monitoring of pedestrian
and vehicular movements and to identify offenders. This solution
was also required to provide continuous recording of all cameras
in the system and to allow independent viewing of any camera
in accordance with standard operating procuedures. It was also
imperative that the solution be able to maintain tamperproof
records for post event analysis.
The Bosch solution chosen was installed by Prestige Alarms, and
has two core segments: a mobile CCTV solution and a City solution.
The mobile CCTV solution involves the Bosch MIC400 camera and
a pair of WZ14 side cameras being fitted to four ranger community
safety patrol vehicles along with a panasonic toughbook allowing
for mobile monitoring. The City solution involves 16 Bosch 500
series PTZ cameras attached to 6 metre articulating poles viewing
the nominated locations across the city including three suburban
locations.
Any project of this magnitude is going to take considerable time to
come together and this project was no exception. From the initial
funding agreement until installation, it was just over two years,
with installation of the infrastructure itself taking a little over seven
months. It goes without saying that with a system as complex as
this, there are going to be many hurdles and challenges along the
way. However, most of these were resolved with little difficulty in
conjunction with the City of Wanneroo to a successful result.
Daniel Sims, Chief Executive Officer - City of Wanneroo comments
that the support from Bosch and Prestige Alarms has been of a
very high standard. “Prestige Alarms has always had staff available
when any issues has arisen and more importantly provided us with
additional training, when requested.”

South Asia’s largest Prison
	 	 SUCCESS STORIES SUCCESS STORIES
South Asia’s largest prison complex, Tihar Jail in New Delhi, is spread across 400 acres and comprises nine different prisons, housing
around 11,872 inmates. The jail is committed to providing a safe and secure detention and is constantly providing welfare opportunities
for reformation and rehabilitation for all its inmates.
Installed by:
Bosch Security Certified Partner
M/s.Pan Intellecom Ltd

In the last few years, the prison population has steadily grown,
adding tremendous pressure to the overall capacity, basic
standard of living and treatment to the prisoners remanded.
Effective 24/7 security and vigilance was a key area of concern.
The jail management decided that an efficient video surveillance
system was required to track, monitor and record movements in
critical locations.
Bosch offered an advanced IP based CCTV solution to Tihar Prison.
The equipment used include 280 Auto Dome PTZ Cameras (VG4
series) and Fixed Dinion Cameras (LTC 0455), VIPX1600 Encoder,
VIP XD Decoders, KBD Digital Keyboard and VIDOS Software.
A state-of-the-art central control room was set up in the Prison
Headquarters, using VIDOS NVR and Pro-suite. VIDOS pro suite is
an enterprise level software working in a client-server architecture.
This provides a long-term storage and retrieval solution for video
and audio as part of the IP Video installation. The control room
runs 14 video management client software stations. There are
two servers which support the system. The main server stores the
entire configuration and the second redundant server is used as a
backup in an event of server failure.
There are dedicated control rooms in each of the nine prisons
with nine client software & workstations. Using VIDOS system
configuration, the administrators can create various trigger alarms,
including alarm inputs, motion detection, video loss and video
contrast. Interval and weekday timers are used in conjunction
with the alarms, to react only when necessary, such as when
motion is detected during the night. In the event of receiving an
alarm, the system is configured to switch a specific camera to the
workstation as well as trigger the network video recorder (NVR)
to start.
Following installation of the Bosch surveillance systems at Tihar,
the jail administration can now easily monitor the entire facility.
Says Mr. B.K. Gupta, Director General Prisons: “The jail inmates
know they are being watched, the staff knows that their actions are
being monitored. There is no room for ambiguity. The surveillance
system greatly improves the prison’s security and helps ensure the
safety of everyone within the grounds.”
After the successful installation of the first phase, prison
authorities have decided to increase the number of cameras in
the prison premises and monitor more sensitive locations. This
will enable better control over inmate acitivities and ensure proper
discipline is followed on prison premises.

Changi Airport is the seventh busiest international airport in the
world, offering flights to more than 200 cities in over 60 countries.
This important Asian transportation hub is used by more than
46 million passengers every year. In order to guarantee smooth
operations and monitor the day-to-day activities on the ground,
CAG works with a range of partners, such as ground handlers,
airport auxiliary police and government agencies.
One of the main requirements for the new technology CAG wanted
to introduce was that different devices could be interconnected
across terminals for all the partners involved. As the airport is in
full operation around the clock, a further condition was that the
installation of the new system had to take place without disturbing
passengers any more than necessary.
To simultaneously address all these conditions, CAG purchased
AutoDome and FlexiDome cameras from Bosch, which were
able to be interconnected with various third party video systems
at Changi Airport Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Public address systems
from the Praesideo Series were also installed at Terminals 1 and
2. The fourth terminal, Changi Airport Budget Terminal, required
a complete integration of CCTV video systems with an Access
Control System for normal and high-security restricted areas.
To meet this challenge, CAG chose the Building Integration
System (BIS) from Bosch. BIS is a modular platform that
combines different building management functions in one single
solution. Furthermore, it responds flexibly to the unique building
management requirements of the particular end-user.
Wilfred Steeman, Vice President, Security Systems (Asia Pacific)
of Robert Bosch (South East Asia) Pte Ltd said: “The Singapore
Changi Airport is a major aviation hub, where safety and security
is a top priority for all air travellers. We are proud that the airport
has placed trust in Bosch’s quality products to deliver and meet
their high security, safety, and communication requirements. With
Bosch’s extensive portfolio of products and solutions, we are
always ready to tackle security challenges anywhere in the world.”
The Residence at Dharmawangsa II required a state-of-the-art
video system for surveillance of the main building as well as the
surrounding premises. In order to ensure the safety of all residents,
there was a need for a total security solution that covered the
indoors and the outdoors. This was mainly to prevent trespassers
and unauthorized personnel from entering. Furthermore, the
surveillance would ensure no vandalism of property or other
disturbances to the building.
Hence, with these needs in mind, authorized dealers, Smart
Technic, and installers, PT Multi Sistim Komunikasi, were engaged
to provide the residence with products from Bosch Security
Systems. The residence was equipped with products from Bosch
Video Systems – including CCTV cameras from the AutoDome
series – and Bosch Public Address Systems.
A single AutoDome Easy II IP provides as much coverage as four
fixed mini domes at half the cost of typical high speed dome
cameras, allowing the monitoring of the largest area with fewer
cameras and in turn reducing system installation and maintenance
expenses. The cameras were installed in the basement, elevators,
all floors, and the helipad. Despite comprehensive coverage of
the whole area, the cameras are small in size and allow discreet
surveillance so as not to be too intrusive to the privacy of residents.
The public address system was also installed to broadcast
occasional announcements, and more importantly to facilitate
evacuations in times of emergencies such as fires. Bosch ceiling
speakers provide high-quality sound and interference-free audio
such that speech is always crystal-clear.

Keeping Residents Safe in
Dharmawangsa II
Jakarta, Indonesia
To enable faster response to emergencies and to allow better control of the security and communication systems in place, Singapore
Changi Airport sought a reliable partner to modernize its existing infrastructure. The operator, Changi Airport Group (CAG), specifically
required public address and video surveillance systems across different terminals and zones. With AutoDome and FlexiDome cameras,
Praesideo Public Address Systems and the Building Integration System (BIS) from Bosch, CAG managed to achieve this objective.
Located in the heart of Kebayoran Baru, the most prestigious residential area in Jakarta, Indonesia, and just minutes from the Central
Business District, the Dharmawangsa Residence is a peaceful oasis of tranquillity, luxury, and timeless architectural design. The distinctive
residential style offers a soothing homely atmosphere in contrast to the teaming metropolis offered by most residences in the city.

  • 2. Contents Dear Readers, The development of modern metropolis in Asia Pacific has exceeded the wildest imagination of any classic Sci-Fi movie. According to a research conducted in 2010, the urbanization in Asia Pacific countries has triggered the unprecedented growth of mega-cities, whose population exceeds 10 million. Among the world’s 21 mega- cities in 2010, 12 are in Asia, including 7 of the largest 10 cities, such as Tokyo, Delhi, Mumbai, Shanghai and Manila. Surprisingly, what is happening at mega-cities is only at the tip of the iceberg, because about 60% of the urban population in Asia lives in cities with a population of less than one million. This mega trend of urbanization in Asia Pacific has made it a challenge for municipal management to safeguard citizens’ lives and property with an increasing size of population in cities. With this issue of NEST news, we would like to share with you how Bosch answers this question with its comprehensive security and communication solutions. One of which is the invincible MIC Series 550 camera which has been hailed as a new urban hero as it can excel even in the toughest surveillance conditions. And you can read more about its features in the exclusive MIC Series 550 postcard created for you this issue. We are currently looking for six talented young singers or bands in the “Be Electro- Voiced” contest, where participants will upload their performing videos on the EV Facebook page and the best performers are honoured every two months. • 6. 11 10 FEATURED PRODUCTS FEATURED PRODUCTS Bosch introduces the FlexiDome HD 1080p Day/ Night IP cameras, new additions to the Bosch high definition (HD) portfolio. The high quality cameras achieve best-in-class performance, combining full HD resolution images with excellent low light operation and color reproduction. They deliver uncompromising vision even in busy, colorful scenes. FlexiDome HD 1080p Day/Night IP cameras feature a new design. Constructed with careful attention to detail, the cameras have an extended operating temperature range making them ideal for hot or cold climates (from -50°C to +55°C). Also, the rugged IP66- rated dome can take on the worst weather conditions. The cameras’ next generation design incorporates a flat window that aligns with the lens, eliminating the bubble (unfocused) effect caused by the protective cover in traditional HD dome designs. Operators can zoom in to any part of a scene to examine specific details without losing clarity. Ideal for a wide range of applications requiring discreet or rugged surveillance, FlexiDome HD 1080p Day/Night IP cameras are especially suited to complex, colorful or low light scenes. Examples include city surveillance and public safety, arenas, airports, finance and banking, and casinos. Including interface advancements, enlarged vendor independency and compatibility with the latest Windows Internet Explorer 9, Bosch Security Systems introduces a number of updates to its Building Integration System (BIS). The new version 2.5 increases the range of supported devices to more than 1,000 different third party cameras and encoders. The new system allows further optimized security, safety and communication management in one front-end system with customized user interface. New Bosch FlexiDome HD 1080p Day/ Night IP cameras New version of Building Integration System Bosch adds Intelligent Tracking to AutoDome 700 Series IP cameras Bosch Security Systems is significantly expanding its Advantage Line range. By adding new video products, and, for the first time, fire and public address solutions, the customer can now organize complete security and audio systems for any small to mid-sized application. Up to now, only video solutions were part of the Advantage Line. “Due to the success of the first wave of the Advantage Line, we are happy to introduce this second pillar of products onto the market,” says Gert van Iperen, President of Bosch Security Systems. “The enhanced line is designed to match the growing demands of installers and customers for price-competitive security and safety products for smaller installations.” The Advantage Line now includes public address and fire detection products. This incorporates a comprehensive range of mixer amplifiers, microphones, ceiling loudspeakers and speaker cabinets from the Bosch Public Address systems range. One of the additions to the fire device segment is the popular Conventional Fire Panel 500 Series, which is specifically designed for shops, warehouses, office buildings and schools. Furthermore, it comprises three different panel types for up to eight zones and 256 detectors. The Automatic Fire Detector 320 Series and the discreet, flush-mount Smoke Detector 500 Series will also be available in the new format. These state-of-the-art devices offer a maximum of protection and reliability combined with ease of maintenance. Bosch Security Systems announces the new Intelligent Tracking feature for AutoDome 700 Series IP pan-tilt-zoom cameras. This is due to the new firmware 5.51. Intelligent Tracking uses AutoDome’s built-in Intelligent Video Analysis (IVA) to constantly monitor scenes for motion and automatically track objects moving within the camera range. AutoDome cameras equipped with Intelligent Tracking present a major asset to overall surveillance, supporting security personnel with a powerful automated monitoring system to ensure targets’ activities are not missed. With this feature, customers can use the IVA from Bosch to stipulate tasks or conditions that will instantly activate tracking. For example, the camera can be programmed to follow vehicles that move through an area in a specific direction. Operators can also trigger tracking of objects by clicking on a moving target within live video to prompt the camera to keep it in a scene with pan, tilt or zoom actions. Using an advanced algorithm, the AutoDome 700 series IP dome with Intelligent Tracking outperforms other moving cameras, as it will resume tracking a target after it passes behind a privacy mask or if it is temporarily concealed by a stationary object. AutoDome continuously tracks the target when it reappears or if motion is detected along the same trajectory. Bosch significantly expands Advantage Line product range
  • 7. 13 12 ON SPOTLIGHT ON SPOTLIGHT City governments face the challenge of reassuring citizens and businesses by preventing and minimizing potential threats. These include vandalism, burglary, and all other forms of crime. There is also a need to ensure efficient processes in everyday public life, for instance managing traffic and crises. Like in the City of Wanneroo, Australia, where the population size has reached 156,000 and is set to double by 2031, assaults and other forms of violent crime were issues which had to be addressed. Hence the City of Wanneroo representatives along with local police and businesses needed a system that would not only deter crime, vandalism and other anti-social behaviour in region, but also allow identification of offenders of crime and ensured the City of Wanneroo is a safe place to live in. IP video surveillance creates safety Bosch offers a wide range of networked solutions for efficiently monitoring public areas in cities and effectively managing security, safety, and communications. Bosch IP networked video surveillance is one part of the portfolio. It allows cities to take a major step toward mastering these challenges. It provides a host of benefits that enable faster detection and prosecution of accidents and crimes and, in many cases, constitute effective deterrents to prevent crimes from being committed in the first place. An IP video surveillance project has now made the City of Wanneroo much safer for pedestrians. The system monitors each of six locations with a Bosch AutoDome 300 Series PTZ camera and two fixed AutoDome 100 Series dome cameras, plus two Bosch Dinion fixed domes at the municipal library. They are interlinked by a fiber-optic network and IP technology. Video footage is stored for one month on an 18TB HP Raid 5 array. Assaults and other forms of violent crime have decreased significantly in the monitored areas as a result. Likewise in Borough of Gedling in Nottinghamshire, UK, which is home to almost 112,000 people, the Bosch IP Wireless Solution has proved to be a winning formula in protecting the local residents from petty and serious crime as part of a much wider crime and disorder partnership initiative. Under the city, the four town centres – Arnold, Mapperley, Carlton and Netherfield – made maximum use of some of the camera, encoder, recording and video management hardware and software from Bosch’s proven CCTV product range. Chris Lazzari, Director of installer Central Security Systems (CSS), a leading specialist in local authority CCTV solutions explained: “We chose Bosch because of the quality and reliability of its products, notably the high resolution images from its cameras, even over IP, and the quality of its streaming. Being wireless means no hard wiring was required, making installation much easier but without sacrificing quality.” Bright lights, big city, and probably greater danger. Cities are growing rapidly and it is estimated that by 2050, another three billion or so people will be living in urban instead of rural areas. This trend poses new challenges for society which is already increasing the need to improve and reinforce existing security concepts. Creating SmarterCities Bosch offers a wide range of networked solutions to effectively manage security, safety, and communications.
  • 8. 14 An integrated security system Amongst the cameras installed there is a mixture of 14 Bosch domes and fixed Dinion IPs. Images are transmitted over wireless IP back to a central monitoring station with 8TB of storage, making maximum use of Bosch’s VIP-X IP encoders and VIDOS IP video management software. Kevin Nealon of Gedling Borough Council says: “We wanted a town centre CCTV system that was reliable, relatively low cost but very high quality, and that could be linked in with other parts of the Borough. Bosch’s equipment gives us the ability to do this. Our vision is that the system will ultimately become the hub for a whole range of other agencies including the Neighbourhood Wardens, Police, Police Community Support Officers and the Fire and Rescue Service etc, in line with our commitment for a Borough that is healthy, safe, clean and green.” Governmental bodies are therefore embracing advanced technologies for enhancing security and safety as efficiently and reliably as possible. With that, there is a growing need for user-friendly, intelligent systems that are easily integrated with multiple other systems, such as those that link and coordinate the responses of police, fire departments, and hospitals to accidents or natural disasters. Importance of image quality Bosch’s comprehensive portfolio of innovative, reliable, high- quality products for implementing a city surveillance solution has proven highly dependable and reliable. When a crime is committed during a street demonstration, CCTV surveillance helps security forces take rapid, targeted action. Recorded footage can also be presented in court as evidence. Hence the quality of the footage has to be perfect. Last year in March, the UK’s North East Lincolnshire Council carried out a major overhaul of its CCTV surveillance infrastructure, selecting Bosch’s rugged, MIC Series pan-tilt-zoom cameras to be at the centre of its new surveillance network. The superior quality of the images captured by the MIC Series cameras which included assaults, thefts and acts of vandalism made identifying offenders far quicker, easier and therefore more useful to the Police. Ready to protect the city While the responsibility to ensure a safe and smart city is huge, Bosch has proven to be more than ready to fulfill the commitment to meet and overcome security challenges in cities, keeping the people and society well-protected. • 9. 17 16 The City of Wanneroo was one of the 25 regions requested to place together a project to support the Australian Government’s ‘Safer Suburbs Plan’. Along with an additional grant from the WA State Government, the City of Wanneroo had to implement a system that would not only deter crime, vandalism and other anti-social behaviour in region but also allow identification of offenders of crime and ensure the City of Wanneroo is safe. The City of Wanneroo representatives along with local police and businesses worked closely together to determine the areas that needed to be covered to ensure effective monitoring of pedestrian and vehicular movements and to identify offenders. This solution was also required to provide continuous recording of all cameras in the system and to allow independent viewing of any camera in accordance with standard operating procuedures. It was also imperative that the solution be able to maintain tamperproof records for post event analysis. The Bosch solution chosen was installed by Prestige Alarms, and has two core segments: a mobile CCTV solution and a City solution. The mobile CCTV solution involves the Bosch MIC400 camera and a pair of WZ14 side cameras being fitted to four ranger community safety patrol vehicles along with a panasonic toughbook allowing for mobile monitoring. The City solution involves 16 Bosch 500 series PTZ cameras attached to 6 metre articulating poles viewing the nominated locations across the city including three suburban locations. Any project of this magnitude is going to take considerable time to come together and this project was no exception. From the initial funding agreement until installation, it was just over two years, with installation of the infrastructure itself taking a little over seven months. It goes without saying that with a system as complex as this, there are going to be many hurdles and challenges along the way. However, most of these were resolved with little difficulty in conjunction with the City of Wanneroo to a successful result. Daniel Sims, Chief Executive Officer - City of Wanneroo comments that the support from Bosch and Prestige Alarms has been of a very high standard. “Prestige Alarms has always had staff available when any issues has arisen and more importantly provided us with additional training, when requested.” Bosch secures South Asia’s largest Prison SUCCESS STORIES SUCCESS STORIES South Asia’s largest prison complex, Tihar Jail in New Delhi, is spread across 400 acres and comprises nine different prisons, housing around 11,872 inmates. The jail is committed to providing a safe and secure detention and is constantly providing welfare opportunities for reformation and rehabilitation for all its inmates. Installed by: Bosch Security Certified Partner M/s.Pan Intellecom Ltd 313-315, Som Datt Chambers-II 9, Bhikaiji Cama Place, New Delhi 110 066 In the last few years, the prison population has steadily grown, adding tremendous pressure to the overall capacity, basic standard of living and treatment to the prisoners remanded. Effective 24/7 security and vigilance was a key area of concern. The jail management decided that an efficient video surveillance system was required to track, monitor and record movements in critical locations. Bosch offered an advanced IP based CCTV solution to Tihar Prison. The equipment used include 280 Auto Dome PTZ Cameras (VG4 series) and Fixed Dinion Cameras (LTC 0455), VIPX1600 Encoder, VIP XD Decoders, KBD Digital Keyboard and VIDOS Software. A state-of-the-art central control room was set up in the Prison Headquarters, using VIDOS NVR and Pro-suite. VIDOS pro suite is an enterprise level software working in a client-server architecture. This provides a long-term storage and retrieval solution for video and audio as part of the IP Video installation. The control room runs 14 video management client software stations. There are two servers which support the system. The main server stores the entire configuration and the second redundant server is used as a backup in an event of server failure. There are dedicated control rooms in each of the nine prisons with nine client software & workstations. Using VIDOS system configuration, the administrators can create various trigger alarms, including alarm inputs, motion detection, video loss and video contrast. Interval and weekday timers are used in conjunction with the alarms, to react only when necessary, such as when motion is detected during the night. In the event of receiving an alarm, the system is configured to switch a specific camera to the workstation as well as trigger the network video recorder (NVR) to start. Following installation of the Bosch surveillance systems at Tihar, the jail administration can now easily monitor the entire facility. Says Mr. B.K. Gupta, Director General Prisons: “The jail inmates know they are being watched, the staff knows that their actions are being monitored. There is no room for ambiguity. The surveillance system greatly improves the prison’s security and helps ensure the safety of everyone within the grounds.” After the successful installation of the first phase, prison authorities have decided to increase the number of cameras in the prison premises and monitor more sensitive locations. This will enable better control over inmate acitivities and ensure proper discipline is followed on prison premises. Video surveillance secures the City of Wanneroo in Australia The City of Wanneroo continues to be one of the fastest growing regions in Australia. The City’s population has reached 156,000 with that number set to double by 2031. Installed by: Prestige Alarms Unit 3, 1 Natalie Way Balcatta WA 6021 www.prestigealarms.com.au
  • 10. 19 18 Changi Airport is the seventh busiest international airport in the world, offering flights to more than 200 cities in over 60 countries. This important Asian transportation hub is used by more than 46 million passengers every year. In order to guarantee smooth operations and monitor the day-to-day activities on the ground, CAG works with a range of partners, such as ground handlers, airport auxiliary police and government agencies. One of the main requirements for the new technology CAG wanted to introduce was that different devices could be interconnected across terminals for all the partners involved. As the airport is in full operation around the clock, a further condition was that the installation of the new system had to take place without disturbing passengers any more than necessary. To simultaneously address all these conditions, CAG purchased AutoDome and FlexiDome cameras from Bosch, which were able to be interconnected with various third party video systems at Changi Airport Terminals 1, 2 and 3. Public address systems from the Praesideo Series were also installed at Terminals 1 and 2. The fourth terminal, Changi Airport Budget Terminal, required a complete integration of CCTV video systems with an Access Control System for normal and high-security restricted areas. To meet this challenge, CAG chose the Building Integration System (BIS) from Bosch. BIS is a modular platform that combines different building management functions in one single solution. Furthermore, it responds flexibly to the unique building management requirements of the particular end-user. Wilfred Steeman, Vice President, Security Systems (Asia Pacific) of Robert Bosch (South East Asia) Pte Ltd said: “The Singapore Changi Airport is a major aviation hub, where safety and security is a top priority for all air travellers. We are proud that the airport has placed trust in Bosch’s quality products to deliver and meet their high security, safety, and communication requirements. With Bosch’s extensive portfolio of products and solutions, we are always ready to tackle security challenges anywhere in the world.” The Residence at Dharmawangsa II required a state-of-the-art video system for surveillance of the main building as well as the surrounding premises. In order to ensure the safety of all residents, there was a need for a total security solution that covered the indoors and the outdoors. This was mainly to prevent trespassers and unauthorized personnel from entering. Furthermore, the surveillance would ensure no vandalism of property or other disturbances to the building. Hence, with these needs in mind, authorized dealers, Smart Technic, and installers, PT Multi Sistim Komunikasi, were engaged to provide the residence with products from Bosch Security Systems. The residence was equipped with products from Bosch Video Systems – including CCTV cameras from the AutoDome series – and Bosch Public Address Systems. A single AutoDome Easy II IP provides as much coverage as four fixed mini domes at half the cost of typical high speed dome cameras, allowing the monitoring of the largest area with fewer cameras and in turn reducing system installation and maintenance expenses. The cameras were installed in the basement, elevators, all floors, and the helipad. Despite comprehensive coverage of the whole area, the cameras are small in size and allow discreet surveillance so as not to be too intrusive to the privacy of residents. The public address system was also installed to broadcast occasional announcements, and more importantly to facilitate evacuations in times of emergencies such as fires. Bosch ceiling speakers provide high-quality sound and interference-free audio such that speech is always crystal-clear. SUCCESS STORIES SUCCESS STORIES Have a safe flight with new systems from Bosch installed at Singapore Airport Keeping Residents Safe in Dharmawangsa II Jakarta, Indonesia To enable faster response to emergencies and to allow better control of the security and communication systems in place, Singapore Changi Airport sought a reliable partner to modernize its existing infrastructure. The operator, Changi Airport Group (CAG), specifically required public address and video surveillance systems across different terminals and zones. With AutoDome and FlexiDome cameras, Praesideo Public Address Systems and the Building Integration System (BIS) from Bosch, CAG managed to achieve this objective. Located in the heart of Kebayoran Baru, the most prestigious residential area in Jakarta, Indonesia, and just minutes from the Central Business District, the Dharmawangsa Residence is a peaceful oasis of tranquillity, luxury, and timeless architectural design. The distinctive residential style offers a soothing homely atmosphere in contrast to the teaming metropolis offered by most residences in the city. Installed by: PT Multi Sistim Komunikasi Jl.
