Pennsylvanians together to discover something new
about history, the arts and the world around us.

got to sit together in a

3. Dear
We thank you for your past participation and support. As the year
comes to a close, we ask you to make a gift today!
All over the Commonwealth, people are joining with PHC to con-
sider the questions that matter to them. How can literature, history
and storytelling make new things familiar and familiar things new
again? What is the best way to appreciate a culture different from
your own? What can a fresh look at the past teach us about the
present? And, when the world weighs upon us, who knows of a
great book to escape into?
Your gift will enable PHC to offer a new Speakers line-up of schol-
ars, artists and storytellers to crisscross the state, new episodes
from our award-winning television show, book discussion programs
for youth and adults, and so much more.

Humanities
Council
In 2008, the Pennsylvania Humanities Council will integrate our
Humanities-and-the-Arts program into our primary grant
program. PHC is committed to humanities and arts programming. Arts
organizations and other nonprofits with projects that combine the humanities
and the arts are invited to apply for a Humanities Grant.
Humanities Grants fund projects on history, literature, the arts and the
ideas that shape the human experience.
Quick Humanities Grants
• For requests up to $500
Small Humanities Grants
• For requests between $501 and $3,000
Large Humanities Grants
• For requests between $3,001 and $20,000
Please visit www.pahumanities.org for application deadlines.
PHC is particularly interested in projects that explore American
arts, culture and history—projects that illuminate current concerns,
advance knowledge of the American experience and express diverse
perspectives. Funded in part by the NEH as part of its We the People
initiative on American history.
