Mobile, Big Data, Cloud Computing, Social Networking, Internet
of Things, Geofencing and many more: those are the concepts
that drive or even lead digital businesses… at least in theory!
Except for the WEB giants that grew with those technologies,
how many big enterprises have taken the digital bascule?
The reasons? The lack of standards, the numerous offers, the
fear to switch to something new, the cost and, probably the most
important, the use of it.
Transforming a concept into a real added-value for an enterprise
is a real challenge and certainly requires a new type of profile in
companies board: a technology expert, mastering technical
architecture and company strategy, capable of finding a relevant
way into a quickly evolving world.

Yahoo! has acquired more companies in 2014 than
Facebook or Google. And has been focusing on mobile,
pretty much following its competitors there.
However, the results of those acquisitions are
still to be proved. No Yahoo! applications in
Apple top 100 in 2013, most of the acquired
companies that have been closed since (only
in 2014: Sparq, Cloud Party, Vizify, etc.),
Yahoo! strategy does not seem to be working
fine so far…
Yahoo! looks too much involve in software and
technology and not enough in product or service. It
should take some time for getting a value out of all those
talents.

If you were fond of Lego but cannot play with it anymore since
you are an “adult”, Google-backed ARA project may soon give
you some good reasons to rejoice.
ARA project aims to design a modular phone, so you
could assemble the pieces of hardware you chose
(and replace them at will). Phonebloks, which initiated the
modular phone project, officially issued a call for industry
partners, and Sennheiser already answered.
With Google, Sennheiser and probably a few other big
companies getting soon involved in ARA, the design-your-own-
device concept is very likely to turn into a reality in a very short
time.
