This essay will explore the morality of abortion through the use of Don Marquis' theories, as well as comparing them to Judith Thomson in order to
effectively explain and present my argument that the decision of abortion is dependent on the growth of personhood. From this, I will present my
belief that abortion is morally incorrect and should not be permitted except in extreme circumstances. I intend to achieve this through supportive
arguments as well as counter–arguments provided by these given authors.

willing to do whatever it takes to sustain the violinist's life, an action that sets the bar for morality so high that it would be unacceptable to expect one to

Pro–Life
On the other hand we have the Pro–life group, which opines that
abortion in any form to be an unacceptable and inhuman practice and nothing
short of brutal murder and infringement of the rights of the baby in the
fetus. The Pro–life group views the problem from an entirely different
perspective. This group considers that life begins as soon as the baby is
conceived and hence abortion is viewed as a breach of rights of the baby.

The main thesis of J. J. Thomson's "A Defense of Abortion" is that although many may see abortion as the unjust killing of an innocent human being,
