1. 4. Who would be the audience
for your media product?
2. • The audience for my media product would typically be girls interested in
pop music aged 16-21. I have shown this by using a sophisticated colour
palette and font. It still has brightly coloured elements within the magazine
to adhere to the conventions of pop magazines, but there are bright reds
and blues, as opposed to bright pinks and purples, which would normally
be found in magazines aimed at 13 year olds.
BBC’s top of the pops
magazine. It has a pink
and glittery font, aimed
at 12-15 year olds.
My product’s font. It is
black and sophisticated,
suited to my target
audience.
BBC’s top of the pops magazine.
It has bright pink and purple
heavily featured across the page
to attract a younger audience.
My product. I have used white as
the main background colour, red
and black. There is also a hint of
blue. These colours are aimed at
an older audience.
3. How I interacted with my target audience
• I created a focus group of four people who are in my target audience. Here
is a hyperlink to my blog post stating how they are and what they said:

group.html
• I followed their advice to ensure that my magazine was always targeting
the wants and needs of the audience I was aiming my product at. This way,
I can increase the amount of loyal consumers because I am adhering to the
conventions of magazines that my target audience want to buy.
• I also consulted a group of people who are in my targeted audience age
bracket. I made a google documents questionnaire and I used the results to
improve my magazine.
• Here is the link to my blog post of the results of the questionnaire and how
I used their feedback:

audience-feedback.html
4. • As my target audience are digital natives, I included social media links to the front page
to not only draw the audience’s attention but also to create a loyal readership, created
by my target audience following the online pages the magazine has, and following any
promotions that the magazine would have. I also included features that would be more
suited to an older readership, names of artists that would catch the attention of a 20-
year-old instead of a 14-year-old. This helped me specifically target a certain audience.
‘Top of the Pops’ features artists
such as 5SOS and Union J,
which are typically liked by a
younger audience. My product
features artists such as Beyoncé
who is typically listened to by
an older audience.
I also included the
username just above the
logos of the social media so
my target audience could go
straight to the social media
pages that the magazine
would have.
