● The oldest keris is keris Budho which was made in the 125 christ.
● Keris was used in Purwacarita, Medang Siwanda, medang Kamulan, Tulisan,
Gilingwesi, Mamenang, Penggiling Wiraradya, Kahuripan, Jenggala, Kediri,
Pajajaran dan Cirebon, Jenggala, Kediri, Tuban, Madura, Majapahit, Demak,
Pajang, Madiun, and Mataram Kartasura, Surakarta, and etc.
4. Social aspects of Keris
● Keris was used in ritual prescription, ceremonies, mythical backgrounds,
poetry, and etc.
● Javanese people believe that keris has magical powers, with some blades
represents good luck and others represent bad.
● The keris maker was called ‘empu’ which means master. It was called empu
because he/ she need to have mystical power, because Javanese people
belief that keris has some mystical power.

Long ago keris was still made of stone but has some magical power.
Now keris was made out of different varieties of carving and material it could be
gold, ivory, steel, and etc but mostly it was made out of special material.
Long ago keris was used for defend or weapons but now we use keris for
ceremonies, fashion, and etc.

● We need to preserve it because it’s part of Indonesian culture and it has a lot
of culture and believe because it has believe from fashion to weapon.
