2. Research
• The strength of my research is that it was detailed and help
me layout my magazine and help know what contents are in
magazines like adverts, articles and interviews. The research
also help me find a target audience because I did a audience
profile for each of the magazine I researched.
• The weaknesses of your research was that I could of research
more different types of magazines so that I could have
arrange of research on magazine and could improve the
content of my magazine
3. Planning
• The strengths of my planning was that I made mind maps and mood
boards to help me create ideas on what my product is going to look like
and then create a style sheet with different colour scheme and different
font that I thought would go well with my magazine. This help my product
because I plan the font and colour shceme before making the product so
that I could spend more time on making the product. I also plan the layout
of my magazine which also meant that I could spend more time making
the magazine.
• The weaknesses of my planning was that the layout I plan I didn’t end up
using it and change it when making the product which meant I spent more
time planning when I could have been making it if I stayed with the orginal
layout but the new layout looks better then the one I planned.
4. Time Management
• I think I manage my time well because I complete the
minimum required for the product in time but if I had
additional time I would of able to make pages for the
magazine like an interview or an advert. If I had additional
time, I think my product would have improved because I could
have made more pages. I think my planning help manage my
time well because when I started product I new what I was
doing because of my planning.
5. Technical Qualities
My product and Practical Photography have so similarities like both products have pictures
of cameras to show that there are photography magazine. Both products also have a
barcode at the bottom right and the coverlines at the bottom left. Both products have the
masthead in the same location, but the products use different fonts. The practical
photography uses a bold simple font to make it look proffesional. My product uses creative
fonts to show that my product is about being creative. Both magazine have different colour
scheme. My product uses a black and white colour scheme for the text and uses a bright
colour scheme for the background. The practical photography uses a blue colour scheme
with some orange and red to highlight important things. Both magazine have the issue
number at the top left. Both product have different double spread layouts. My product has
the article on one side and the image on the other side. Practical photography have lots of
images and writing around the images.
6. Aesthetic Qualities
I think my work was creative because I used a lot different fonts, colours and tools to make
the magazine stand out and look different from your typical magazine. How I would
improve this magazine is that I would add more pages like interview or advert page so that
the magazine has more content. I would also improve the layout of the double page spread
because I think I could of use the spac elot better by adding more pictures and moving the
columns around the pictures. The strenght of my product is that it stands out from other
products because of it use of bright colours and the large fonts. The weakness of my
product is that it might not appeal to everyone because it a bit different to your normal
photograph magazine.
7. Audience Appeal
I appealed to my audience by putting a camera on the front cover of my
magazine which tells my target audience it a photography magazine, I also didn’t
put anybody on my front cover so that it appeals to all genders and ages
interested in photography. My front cover also uses bright colours which make to
it stand out from other magazine and make it easy to find. The magazine has lots
of bright patterns which appeals to my target audience because they like
creative image because my target audience is interested in photography and
editing photo and creative ways.
