1) The passage describes Jesus sharing a final meal with his disciples before his crucifixion, where he foretold that one of them would betray him.
2) It was customary to dip bread in wine as a sign of kindness, and Jesus dipped a piece of bread and gave it to Judas as a sign that he would betray him.
3) The passage examines how believers can fall away from Jesus, as Judas did, through failing to change sinful attitudes and prioritizing worldly desires over faithfulness to God.

The Wet Morsel: A Sign of Betraying Jesus
1. The Wet Bit.
John 13:21-30
The story takes place during the Lord's Supper,
everyone is gathered to celebrate it, the Lord's last supper before his crucifixion, Jesus will
warn his disciples about his death, and everyone will be aware that someone will betray him.
The dipped morsel, bread dipped in wine, there was a custom regarding the morsel as a sign
of kindness showing joy and pleasure, giving honor to the chosen one.
The wet bit goes here to be a symbol of the sign of the betrayer of Jesus. Augustine tells us:
“wet bread means the pretense of Judas, so certain things get wet to change color”, or be
more acceptable.
But how does the wet bit get into our lives?
When and how do we prefer the wet morsel to Jesus?
Did Jesus know who Judas was? Yes. He may have had financial skills, so he was chosen to
handle the finances of Jesus' ministry (John 12:6).
He, like any human being, was a miracle of life, he was God's creation. The mystery of being
the traitor. His Christian attitudes and behavior. "man of Kerioth", homeland in Judea.
Why did Jesus choose Judas to take care of the money?
There are things that God changes in us, others He lets us change our attitudes, an example
is the act of forgiving. (Matthew 5:23-24).
Something still hadn't changed in Judas' life (John 12:3-6). How could a disciple of Jesus
who had witnessed so many things still remain a thief? He never changed.
He never tried to change certain attitudes in his life and it was these attitudes that led him to
perdition and ruin. Perhaps in the mouth, following the tradition, Jesus was saying: “I still
give you a chance, even if you betray me, there will still be forgiveness for you”. But his
ingratitude led to his deserved condemnation.
Let's see the text:
The statement: 21
The curiosity to know who it was: 22 to 25.
The sign and the person: 26.
Judas the only Jew among the apostles, the rest all Galileans.
The reaction: 27.
Earlier in verse 2, Judas had already fed on the idea of betraying Jesus, and he already
knew it.
Nobody understands: 28 to 29.
The final destination: 30.
2. The wet piece appears in our life as a sign of exchange for Jesus, when we do:
1- When I do not accept that some attitude in my life is changed.
It's not accepting God's guidelines in my Christian life, because I don't want God's will to get
in the way of my personal plans and projects.
2- When I am not faithful to God or my brothers, or the church in its customs, rules and
disciplines.
This speaks of commitment, first to God, then to the church I belong to, and finally to my
brothers in Christ.
I disregard the customs, rules and disciplines that my institution determines.
3- When you don't have feelings; love, friendship, respect, pacification and the like.
Every Christian must necessarily develop these principles and others similar to these.
4- When you are greedy, selfish (seek your own interests to the detriment of others), proud
(feeling of superiority), corrupt (double behavior).
Such qualities are not conducive to Christian conduct and only take us further away from
true Christianity.
5- When my mind, my heart are no longer used by God.
Once accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior I must devoutly let my body, soul and spirit be
used by Him.
6- When I prefer the wet bit and left the presence of God.
This is the great truth to be told, many Christians today prefer the wet bit than being in the
presence of God.
Jesus said: I am the living bread that came down from heaven.
Don't trade live bread for a wet piece!
Jesus Christ loves you.
