3. Leadership is Key
A good leader must be morally upright and
capable of leading the country. One important
value among leaders is honesty. An honest and
capable leader will earn the respect of his people
and people will be confident in the leader’s
ability.
4. Anticipate change and stay relevant
The government needs to be forward-looking in their
decisions. For example, at Marina Bay, solar- powered
fans were built due to the lack of resources in
Singapore. Thus, the governement had to look for
renewable sources of energy as a means to combat the
lack of resources.
5. Reward for work and work for
reward
This is known as meritocracy. Meritocracy is a systen
which rewards people based on their hard work and
talent. When these people are rewarded for their work,
they are encouraged to do even better.
For example, students who perform well in co-curricular
activities and studies are rewarded. Scholarships and
bursaries are awarded to the top 10% of the school
cohort.

6. A stake for everyone, opportunities
for all
This makes people have a sense of belonging to the
country as they are involved in decision making that
concerns Singapore’s development. For example, the
casinos at Marina Bay. Some people were supportive of
the casinos due to the boost in the tourism industry,
however others did not approve of it as it can cause
various bad habits such as gambling addiction. The
government discussed based on the feedback that they
had received from the people and came up with
solutions to solve their concerns.

8. Marina Bay Sands
With the casino complete, the resort features a 2,561-
room hotel, a 1,300,000-square-foot convention-
exhibition centre, the 800,000-square-foot The Shoppes
at Marina Bay Sands mall, a museum, two large
theatres, seven "celebrity chef" restaurants, two floating
Crystal Pavilions, an ice skating rink, and the world's
largest atrium casino with 500 tables and 1,600 slot
machines. The complex is topped by a 340m-long
SkyPark with a capacity of 3,900 people and a 150m
infinity swimming pool set on top of the world's largest
public cantilevered platform, which overhangs the north
tower by 67m.
9. Foreign Investments
There are Many Global brands found in the MBS shopping
mall, such as Chanel, Prada, Gucci, Louis Vuiton, Dior,
Addidas and Armani Exchange. Globalisation and foreign
investments in Singapore also improve our economy and
increase our total revenue.
10. Due to the rapid development and the increase in our
economy and tourism, our reputation would thus
increase. This leads to a greater appeal among other
foreign investors and tourists, encouraging them to
come to Singapore to invest and tourists to come here
to relax.
11. Disadvantages
Despite the many advantages that MBS entails, there are
disadvantages which arise due to the casino. The casino would lead
to an increase in the number of gamblers among Singaporeans,
which would lead to societal unrest and a financial crisis among the
gamblers. These gamblers might then find ways to cover their
losses and gamble more such as borrowing from loansharks or via
criminal methods. In conclusion, there would be unstability among
Singaporeans as families and broken up due to gambling.
