  4. 4. ...... Leadership requires influencing others in every way possible. Leaders always have the big picture in mind and influence others to achieve what's in mind for a greater good. Not all leaders are necessarily good leaders. Few are truly great leaders. What sets the great apart from the bad?

Relevance of PS to Entrepreneurs Whether it is a sales pitch to a potential customer, an elevator pitch to an investor, or an inspirational speech in front of the team, an entrepreneur must be able to communicate their vision and mission with clarity and conviction. Passing your vision on meeting complete strangers and speaking in front of them. By displaying good speaking skills at these events, an entrepreneur can make valuable connections and win new customers for their business. Company/Group Representation Closing Sales One of the major challenges in entrep. is selling. Selling, the art of convincing people involves different of PS such negotiation, research and presentation, persuasive speaking, in other cases debating. Good public speaking is the critical to any sales presentation, influencing as a leader and without it a business/leader would struggle to get off the ground.

This capital may be in the form of loan or equity but either way an entrepreneur may have to go through several rounds of interviews, presentations and question and answer sessions before their business gets approved for financing Persuasion of Investors and Partners An entrepreneur has to first hire the right people and then train them to do the roles they were hired for. MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT PUBLIC SPEAKING Good public speakers are born don't shut yourself to personality types the idea of a perfect public speaker we only become effective public speakers stop chasing perfection and embrace the start small The idea of boring topics Memorising your content is a great way to give a Public speech Experienced speakers never get nervous Public speaking is the use of powerpoints I have to speak like my mentor

  14. 14. Understand your need key to your success Do you really need PS skill? Why do you need it? Identify areas/technique you lack Helps to know what goals to set and how to achieve them Set Goals Set SMART goals based on the gaps identified. Remember, it is you versus you. Develop capacity by listening and studying other great speak Practice repetitively The least chance is practice time. Plan your communication ahead of time. Key to overcoming fear Start Small in front of your mirror; To 1 or 2 person(s)

  16. 16. Understand Topic Prepare accordingly Your opening is key Make the first 1 minute count. You must earn the attention of your audience Practice till you know it Do this till you image in the mirror confirms your readiness. Enough time Keep to your content Delivery counts! Minimise filler words as much as possible tone, pace, pitch, pauses, stops, vocabulary, humour..etc Pay attention to your body language moderate the use of hands and movement in physical session. Keep eye on screen in virtual instances

Two things you should not be accused of: Not being enthusiastic Confidence As a leader/enterp. your energy in communication has to be high. Its okay to mimic other speakers but don't adopt them entirely. Be yourself Closing Notes
