Evolution of Cloud Computing
• It started evolving in the 1950s with mainframe computing.
• The concept of virtual machines (VMs) was created around 1970.
• In 1990s, virtualized private network connections were offered by
telecommunication companies.
• The evolution of cloud computing is briefly explained below:
– Grid computing: Solving large problems with parallel computing
– Utility computing: Offering computing resources as a metered service
– SaaS: Network-based subscriptions to applications
– Cloud computing: Anytime, anywhere access to IT resources delivered
dynamically as a service
Classification of Cloud Computing
• IaaS - Infrastructure as a Service. A model which outsources
the equipment to support storage, hardware, servers and
networking components.
• PaaS - Platform as a Service. A model that rents hardware,
operating systems, storage and network capacity over the
Internet.
• SaaS - Software as a Service. A software distribution model,
hosted by a application service provider that is offered to
customers over the internet.
Types of Cloud Computing
• Public Cloud
Its a model where services are offered over the Internet that is
open for public use, on a pay-per-usage basis.
• Private Cloud
It’s a model where the services are offered to a single
organization, managed internally or externally by a third party.
• Hybrid Cloud
It’s a model that is a mix of public and private clouds.
• Community Cloud
Its an infrastructure shared by several organizations supporting a
specific community.

• Customer Relationship Management (CRM) is a strategy that
helps a business to manage its customer & sales relationships.
• CRM is focused on customer interaction and designed in order
to optimize revenue, profitability and customer loyalty.
• CRM application activities are standardized, automated and
shared across organizations for improving customer interaction
of the companies.
Purpose
• The most obvious purpose of customer relationship
management is to help a business retain its customers.
• It helps the business understand what needs to be done in order
to get more customers.
• To reduce costs by managing costly complaints and finding out
what services are useless / useful for the customers.

• Retaining the existing customers and building a relationship with
other value-adding allies is critical to any corporate performance

Understanding CRM Terminologies
• Accounts – an organization or a company that you want a
business relationship with. Like a prospect, partner(s),
competitor(s) or re-sellers.
• Contacts – any individual from database associated to specific

from the lead.
