  2. TYPE _ The shoulder joint ball and socket vareity of synovial joint. ARTICULAR SURFACE - It is the formed by articulation of the Glinoid cavity of scapula and the head of humerus. So it is called glinohumeral articulation. It is a weak joint because Glinoid cavity is small and shallow to hold the head of the humerus. STABILITY MAINTAIN BY _ ● Coracoacromial arch. ● Musculotendinous cuff. ● Glenoid labrum. ● At the same muscle and atmospheric pressure.

ANTERIOR _ subscpularis, coracobrachialis, short head of biceps brachii and deltoid. POSTERIOR _. Infraspinatus, teresminor and deltoid.
  5. BLOOD SUPPLY IN THE SHOULDER JOINT. 1. Anterior cercumflex humeral artery. 2. Posterior cercumflex humeral artery. 3. Suprascapular artery. 4. Subscpular artery. NERVE SUPPLY . 1. Axillary nerve. 2. Musculocutenious nerve. 3. Suprascapular nerve.
  6. ACTION _ FLEXION _. Clavicular head of pectoralis major and anterialy to deltoid. EXTENSION _. Posterior deltoid and lattismusdorsii . ADDUCTION _. pectoralis major and lattismusdorsii, long head of triceps brachii, short head of biceps brachii. ABDUCTION _. both supraspinatus and deltoid muscle, ( 0 to 90’ ) , serratus anterior 90 ‘ to 180’ upper and lower fibre of trapezius 90 to 180’. MEDIAL ROTATION _ 1. Pectoralis major. 2.
