State Response to Floods of 2010

  3. 3. <ul><li>The State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) handled 500+ messages during this event ranging from general information to resource requests. </li></ul><ul><li>SEOC was manned and operational starting March 14, 2010 through to the end of the response period on or about March 23, 2010. </li></ul><ul><li>SEOC performed in a supporting role to the local Incident Commander(s) (ICs). </li></ul><ul><li>WebEOC (version 7.0) is the operating system used in the State EOC. </li></ul>RIEMA Response/Functions
  4. 4. RIEMA Response/Functions <ul><li>ESF’s 1 through 13 were activated for this event. </li></ul><ul><li>MOU between the Civil Air Patrol and RIEMA exercised and tested during this event. </li></ul><ul><li>MOU/MOAs with RI Urban Search and Rescue Team (RIUSAR) exercised and tested. </li></ul>

RIEMA Partners <ul><li>During the March 2010 Flood Event Response Phase, RIEMA Operations worked closely with FEMA Region 1, RIDOT, RIDEM, RIARNG, USCG, RICAP, ARC and many volunteer groups performing Rapid Needs Assessments, site visits, all in support of our cities and towns with getting resources and personnel. </li></ul><ul><li>The American Red Cross (ARC) was instrumental in setting up shelters, getting assistance in place. </li></ul>

EMAC <ul><li>RIEMA has the capability to request support using the EMAC ( E mergency M anagement A ssistance C ompact) system. </li></ul><ul><li>EMAC’s Mission – to facilitate the efficient and effective sharing of resources between member states during times of disaster or emergency. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>NOTE : RIEMA has two trained EMAC “A-Team” members. </li></ul></ul>

EMAC <ul><ul><li>During the March 2010 Flood Event, RIEMA initiated (3) EMAC requests: </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>(1)Highway signs and traffic management devices </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><ul><li>(2) Requests for support personnel in the Volunteer Management field. </li></ul></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>AND… </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>EMAC “A” Team members were able to utilize their training and do actual requests through this system. </li></ul></ul>
