The course focuses on studying Grade 3 - Living Things and Their Environment in the Lesson Humans, with a particular emphasis on the topic of the Sense Organs. The human body is made up of numerous parts. Through interactive discussion and fun activities, the course includes understanding and exploring the parts and functions of the human body's sense organs. Students will learn to describe the parts and functions of the sense organs in the human body as well as develop and practice healthy habits for taking care of the sense organs throughout this course. As a result, the lecture's topic will be our sense organs. We can see how beautiful the world is, hear a variety of sounds, taste delicious food, smell lovely flowers, and feel the comfort of our mothers' touch because of our senses. Let's learn more about our senses so that we can use them to understand our environment and ourselves.
3. PRAYER
Dear Lord,
We thank you for this day and the many
blessings we have received. We ask that
you would bless the work that we do here
in our class and give us patience,
courage, and perseverance to face
whatever challenges may come. Bless
our teachers and students with wisdom
to learn from each other.

13. Introduction
We have five different senses—vision,
hearing, smell, taste and touch, and the sense
organs related to these are the eyes, ears,
nose, tongue and skin. Each of these snese
are part of our body.
15. THE FIVE SENSE ORGANS
● Our eyes are used for seeing, we see with our eyes.
● Our ears are used for hearing; we hear with our ears.
● Our nose is used for smelling, we smell with our nose.
● Our tongue is used for tasting, we taste with our
tongue.
● Our skin is used for touching and feeling, we touch
with our skin.
17. EYES
● The eyes are sense organs
that help us to see things.
Eyes change the light into
electrical signals. The brain
interprets these signals as
an image of the object.
18. ● The eyes are the sense organs for vision. The pair
of eyes notice the changes in the light in the
surrounding.
19. ● The sensory cells in the eyes are called photoreceptors.
There are two types of photoreceptors—rod cells and
cone cells.
20. Photoreceptors
Rod cells Cone cells
Responsible for the vision in low
light.
Responsible for colour vision in
bright light.
There are about 120 million rod cells
in the eye.
There are about 6-7 million cone
cells in the eye.
22. EARS
● The ears are the organs that
allow us to hear. Ears work by
changing sound vibrations
into signals that the brain
understands as sound. Our
ears also help us to keep our
bodies in balance.
23. ● Humans can hear different sounds because of a pair
of ears.
● Hearing is possible due to the sound passing
through the ear that is divided into the external ear,
middle ear and inner ear.
24. ● The external ear helps collect different sounds and pass them
to the middle part of the ear.
● The middle ear contains a delicate part called the eardrum
that vibrates after receiving the sound.
● These vibrations are picked up by the inner ear that sends the
stimulus to the brain.
26. NOSE
● Humans can smell by their
noses.
● The nose is the sense
organ that allows us to
smell things around us. It
also helps us to breathe.
27. ● The air that enters the nose
brings different odours that
touch the smell receptors.
● Our brain helps to
understand and identify
different smells after
receiving the stimulus from
the smell receptors in the
nose.
29. TONGUE
● The tongue is the sense
organ that allows us to
taste the food that we eat.
It has taste receptors that
send messages to the
brain.
30. ● We get to know about
the tastes of food by
our tongue.
● The tongue
understands and
identifies different
tastes due to tiny
receptors all over the
tongue.
31. ● The back of the tongue is more sensitive to the bitter taste
to avoid swallowing rotten/spoiled food.
● The basic tastes that our tongue understands are sweet,
sour, salty, bitter and savoury. The savoury taste is also
called ‘umami’.
33. SKIN
● Skin is the largest sense
organ. It helps us to feel or
touch things around
us.The skin has many
sense receptors that
respond to different
sensations.
34. ● The skin is the largest
sense organ that covers all
the other organs and
protects us from external
injuries.
● It consists of different
layers of tissues that help
sense many stimuli.
35. ● Our skin can detect pain, itchiness, touch,
vibration, heat, cold, pressure, etc.
37. Sense organ Diseases
Eyes Farsightedness, Near-sightedness, Conjunctivitis
Ears Ear squeeze, inflammation of inner parts, deafness
Nose Sinusitis
Tongue Swelling and infections
Skin Acne, Psoriasis
39. One morning Ven, Ara and their mother are talking to each other
Mother : Good morning, Ven and Ara. Would you like to eat your
breakfast?
Ven : Yes! Mama
Ara : Not me Mama , my eyes hurt.
Mother : Oh! Let me see it. Something is not right we have to see a
doctor. Oh, dear I am always reminding you to take care of your body.
Ven : Healthy habits for our senses!
Mother : That’s right! What are those healthy habits?
Ara : We should not read in dim light or watch

40. Television in a close distance. We should wear Sunglasses on sunny day .
Ven : We take care of our ears too by cleaning them regularly not to prick
them with any objects
Ara : Take a bath and clean our hands to protect our Skin
Ven : Brush our teeth and clean our tongue after eating
Mother : And do not forget to drink plenty of water, have enough sleep and
eat balance and nutritious foods
Ven : You are right Mama.
Ara : Yes ! You are Mama
Mother : It is important to remember and practice those healthful habits
Ven and Ara.

41. How Can We Take Care of Our Sense
Organs?
—sense organ
42. Sense organ How to take care
Eyes Eat a healthy diet with green vegetables, fruits, milk, etc. Avoid watching mobile/TV/computer
for a long time.
Ears Never use pointed things to clean the ears. Avoid listening to loud music.
Nose Never poke the nose with any pointed things. Clean the nose regularly while taking a bath
Tongue Clean the tongue using a tongue cleaner and wash your mouth properly after eating the meals.
Skin Bath regularly using good soap and consult the doctor if there are any rashes on the skin.
45. ● Each of our senses uses its own
detection system to get information
from our surroundings. The
information is sent to the brain where
it will be processed and combined to
create a complete sensory picture of
our environment.
46. ● Are our connection to the world around us so we
need them to perceive our environment and to
interact with other people
● Can help with everyday tasks such as driving,
talking to people, or performing activities at work
● Are essential for our enjoyment of many
experiences such as eating a meal or listening to
music
● Are closely connected to our emotions and
memories so they can have a very dramatic impact
on how we feel
