PERSONAL PROFILE
With years of international & New Zealand experience, my goal is to provide management expertise to a
growth focused organisation keen to increase its market dominance.
My expertise extends to leading an organisation locked in its cycle of change though innovative and
systematic thinking to delivering long term strategic goals while adapting to a changing competitive
market. This is critically focused in the area of Customer Service, Sales and Hospitality.
I am an achiever; I pride myself in my philosophy that nothing leaves my table without value added to it.
Therefore each task I accept is assured of success, as I will not consider success in the eyes of others
prior to me enjoying it in my own.
In each of the roles, I have led significant sales management & improvement of revenue generating
initiatives thereby improving efficiencies, gaining economies of scale and increasing the profitability of
the divisions.
A key component was my ability to understand market segmentation, customer buying behavioural
patterns, and the identification of marketing opportunities.
Two significant achievements were the successful launch of the Times Shopping Festival & the Times
Exhibition product which were designed to stimulate a sluggish sales market at the time.
During my management tenure I have lead teams of more than 15 direct reports fully responsible for
their individual sales performance and their development. This provided an ample opportunity for me to
test and hone my interpersonal skills with an emphasis on developing a highly successful team.
Being part of a conceptualised team to generate new thinking in advertising and marketing strategies, I
was a core member of the IDEA Factory. This team was responsible for the development of the Times
Customer Loyalty Programme and the launch of a niche market publication called Westside Plus. Some of
the high value clients within these were Thomas Cook, SITA travels and Win Tec Computers.
3. 33
Due to my consistently high performance I was assigned special overseas projects where I spent time in
the Netherlands & South Africa profiling trade dignitaries due to come across to the Indian subcontinent
for trade negotiations.
My philosophy towards life is simple – I am not afraid of failure but whether I am content with my failure.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
While I have been extensively trained and continue to gain new skills through various in house trainings
of the organisations I work for; these are some of the significant areas of my overall management
development.
Fairfax Leadership programme 2012.
Sales Force – Licensed to sell Certificate.
Brian Meredith – Sales Training Programme.
The highlight of my professional development has been in the area of relationship building which forms
part of my sales ethos – I am not here to sell you something; I am here to grow your business so that you
enjoy the benefits of our relationship.
Examples as a form of testimonials to support my statements are from Placemakers New Lynn, Lifestyle
Neuro Muscular and Food Stuffs Group.
