PROJECT OVERVIEW
1.! DPR received $13.4M in FY 18-19 Capital Funding for the
following:
•! Gymnasium, Kitchen, Fitness Room, Multipurpose Room.
2.! Shepherd Elementary in need of cooking kitchen and
appropriately sized dining area.
•! Currently four (4) lunch shifts with limited dining space.
3.! DPR/DGS have hired a Design Build Team to produce
architectural drawings and to complete the construction.
•! Note that DCPS and safety of students is the Priority. DCPS will
have access to the shared spaces during the school day and until
all students have left for the day (6:30 PM).

RODENT CONTROL
RODENT CONTROL (MCN):
•! Employees will only eat (and dispose of food waste) in designated areas.
•! MCN to install rodent control boxes around the perimeter of the school (within the
construction zone)
•! MCN to adjust quantity of boxes based on rodent activities during the first few weeks of
construction
•! MCN to have boxes cleaned bi-weekly
RODENT CONTROL (SHEPHERD ES):
•! DGS facilities and the Shepherd Administration have a program in place within the school
now, including:
–! Traps replaced and monitored in the back of house areas within school.
–! Changes to programs/access (picking up students and exits) no propped doors.
–! Food changes – no microwaves in classrooms, only eating in designated areas.
–! General upkeep/cleaning – added janitorial process.
–! Increased monitoring going forward.
