2. So you’ve got an interview coming up?
These 4 simple steps will help you succeed:
1. The interview process
2. Understand the job
3. Research the company
4. Be Yourself
3. What will you learn?
• Understand how to prepare for an interview
• Matching your skills to the job role
• Where to Research the company
• The importance of being yourself
5. Get yourself in the right frame of mind by becoming
comfortable with what to expect from the interview.
Ask yourself the following questions:
• Do you know where it is and what time?
• Have you got your route planned and do you know
how long it will take to get there?
• Who will you be meeting?
• Is it a panel or just one person you will be meeting?
• Will you be required to present?
• Is it formal or a relaxed chat?
• Do you need to take evidence of your work?
• What format is it taking, i.e just a Q&A or are there
tests and role plays involved
These will help you break each part down to prepare in
bite size chunks instead of worrying about the whole
interview.
7. Matching your skills to the job
The interviewer will be looking for you to demonstrate where your skills and
experience match the job duties.
To do this take a look at the list of responsibilities and skills required
For each point in the list think of or even better write down an example of how you’ve demonstrated
this in your current and previous job roles, voluntary work or school/uni projects
Where possible showcase the outcome or result and how the part you took impacted this (if working
within a team or on a project with a number of people)
Once you have your list of your examples, refer to these in your interview
9. Find out as much as you can about their business and have
a few good questions to ask. Maybe found out a little
about the manager too – it won’t hurt.
Things to think about when researching the company:
• What do they do
• How many employees and offices do they have
• Have they won any awards or won any major
contracts
• How do they treat their employees
Where to find information about the company:
• Their website and social media pages
• Contact people at the company (if you know someone
even better)
• View the Interviewer’s profile on LinkedIn
11. Trust us on this advice!
Step outside the box and think about how you look to someone else.
Are there gaps on your CV that you need to explain?
Are you going to be asked to talk about something you only mentioned as an aside?
It will be really embarrassing for you if you can’t answer a question about yourself!
Other points to remember:
Arrive early
Ask questions (people like to talk about themselves)
Be polite to everyone you come into contact with at the company
Smile
If you are really nervous, breathe in for 3 and out for 3. This helps you relax and hopefully be yourself

Editor's Notes
A reminder of how we developed the new ASC Brand.
Why did we re-brand?
As a business we decided that we needed a much clearer focus on the markets we recruit for and consistency across the business in order to grow.
What did we do?
We re-structured the business and expanded from 2 divisions to 5 (3 core sectors, 2 sun sectors), drilled down vertical markets and built a clear company goal, mission and values.
How did we do it and who was involved?
We spoke to everyone in the business (recruitment staff, admin, finance etc) and asked what was important to them when delivering a service to clients/candidates, working with each other and to maintain a good company reputation. We then put together a branding group which consisted of various managers across the business to develop the new ASC brand.
When did we do this?
We started the process in 2017 and launched it officially internally in July 2018.
This has also meant that internally we will be changing the names of some teams and what they focus on.
