I’m a second year microbiology student, with a keen interest in fungi, immunology and
parasites, looking to build more experience in a range of areas including laboratory
techniques and knowledge, in a pathological or medical environment, and my professional

Work experience, Spring/Summer 2015, Laboratory Assistant:
I’ll be working with Dr Ifat Parveen and her Phd student to help complete biological
and chemical assays, to help towards a bigger project about seaweed and their
chemical ability. A paper may also be published about this with my name included.
Practical experiments, 2015, Practical skills in Microbiology and Immunology:
Immunology practical’s included working with lysozymes, haemagglutination, blood
leucocytes, ELISA and LAT.
Microbiology practical’s included plate streaking, bioinformatics, epidemiology,
culture growth, swabbing of surfaces and sterile technique.
Practical experiments, 2013-2014, Aberystwyth University:
Using a range of skills to successfully clone and transform E.coli, using pCR2.1-
Identifying and growing own bacterial and fungal cultures.
Using sterile techniques to ensure no contamination of cultures being grown.
Doing a range of experiments over 4 weeks, using different algae, fungi, bacteria,
pseudofungi and myxomycetes, identifying and analysing each culture.

I gained new experience working in a clothing store, I helped to improve store targets
