2. Gorge Owned’s 2014-2015 Impacts
With a .2 FTE Executive Director, a .2 FTE Programs
Director, and a .5 FTE Leaders for Tomorrow Program
Manager, as well as over 800 hours of volunteer hours,
Gorge Owned has made some significant impacts in our
community. It is a privilege to do this work.
3. Gorge Owned’s Impacts -Education & Awareness
• 24 events this year with >1,300 attendees!
• >500 consumers have participated in GO Local spending
challenge & are more aware of the importance of local
spending
• >120 people came to our GO Solar launch parties to learn
about the costs & logistics of grid-tied solar systems
4. Gorge Owned’s Impacts -Increasing Energy
Efficiency
• 13 houses went through Clean Energy Works whole-
house audit, saving an average of 31% on their energy
bills as a result of changes they made!
5. Gorge Owned’s Impacts –Waste Diversion
• Community Pride cleanup in Klickitat County diverted
143,000 lbs of waste (2014) and 162,655 lbs of waste
(2015) from the landfill
• 374 vehicles dropped off material in 2014, 442 vehicles
dropped off material in 2015 to be reused, recycled,
composted, or donated
6. Gorge Owned’s Impacts -Culture of Collaboration
• We have over 200 business and household dues-paying
members
• We are reciprocal members with all of the Chambers of
Commerce
• We partner with >30 area non-profits/agencies to do our work
• Our business members are highly satisfied with our work-
they give us an average score of 4.5 out of 5 points for
excellence
7. Gorge Owned’s Impacts -Strengthening Local
Economy
• GO Local campaign has helped over 75 business see an
increase in sales by > $120,000 since its inception
• GO became a trustee for the Kiva Zip microloan program,
helping one business obtain a $5,000 crowd funded loan
• GO received a $2,000 grant from NW Farm Credit
Services to create a rural entrepreneur co-working space
in the Gorge
8. Gorge Owned’s Impacts -Celebrating Sustainability
Leaders
• 13 nominees for Tod J. LeFevre Sustainability Award, 418
votes on winners, 60 attendees for awards ceremony
• 5 entrants in 1st annual Gorge Owned Sustainable
Business Plan competition, 3 winners chosen by audience
of 100 people
9. Gorge Owned’s Impacts -Promoting Renewable
Energy
• 140 applicants for GO! Solar, with 20 solar installations so
far
• 100,120 watts solar installed, preventing around 252,394
lbs of CO2 emissions per year
• >50 people came to our Rural Energy Workshop in Hood
River & a new working group has been formed
10. Gorge Owned’s Impacts -Cultivating Youth
Leadership
• 398 youth have gone through Leaders for Tomorrow
program
• 90% have gone straight onto college, 33% grad school
• LFT alumni are teachers, small business owners,
diplomats, activists, inventors, lawyers, musicians, & great
parents too
