The purpose of this assignment is to:
Be able to edit and process text to meet a brief
Scenario
SCC Publishing, a new magazine publisher aims to produce several new brands in summer 2015, designed to capture the 16-25
year old market. The magazine will be published both online and in print. You have been commissioned to provide facsimile
layouts of a double page spread and front cover, as well as a house style and original masthead, for new magazines from a
choice of the following genres: Film, music, sport, gaming, or fashion. You will carry out research into audience, as well as being
responsible for the drafting and sub-editing of articles.

Completed font cover and double page spread designs, incorporating both text and image. A written commentary of processes
and conventions used as well as how the needs of the target audience have been met.

Task 1: Using Photoshop, prepare a front cover and double page spread.
Task 2: Prepare a written explanation and commentary of:
• Design and word processing packages used.
• Format with examples of existing media texts
• Design conventions used, such as the Gutenberg principle, mastheads, drop caps,
• A summary of how the above meets the needs of your target audience in terms of gender/social
status
On your blog present your finished design work with your written commentary as either a word document,
PowerPoint or podcast,
Remember to apply the techniques developed during classroom workshops and screenings.

The magazine will be published both online and in print. You have been commissioned to provide facsimile layouts of a double page spread and front cover, as well as a house style and original masthead, for new magazines from a choice of the following genres: Film, music, sport, gaming, or fashion. You will carry out research into audience, as well as being responsible for the drafting and sub-editing of articles. Key topics • Design and produce page layout to meet a brief Work to be submitted Completed font cover and double page spread designs, incorporating both text and image. A written commentary of processes and conventions used as well as how the needs of the target audience have been met.
