The co-founder and chief executive officer of Foundze, Reema Shah oversees operations and long-term
planning initiatives for an organization dedicated to facilitating sharing of educational technology
applications. Reema Shah supports many groups that focus on the improvement of children's lives.
A recent report conducted by the Joan Ganz Cooney Center in partnership with Sesame Workshop and
PBS Kids suggests that young children who play educational games on their hand-held tablets and
smart phones gain advantages in school preparedness. While not all applications offer the same
benefits, a growing number of these downloadable tools provide considerable opportunities for primary
and pre-school children to learn basic skills and facts that will help them academically.
The most effective applications designed for early learners favor shorter play periods because younger
children usually have shorter attention spans than older students. Interactive applications enable
children to feel as if they are playing with a partner, making the game more interesting. Built-in goals
promote a feeling of accomplishment as children achieve these objectives, and personalization
capabilities keep them engaged.
