5. THE STORY TELLER
This story take place in a Railway carriage.
There are five characters in this story – An Aunt, a small girl,
a smaller girl, a small boy and a stranger (The story teller)
The aunt said ordinary story to the children. So they never
interested in her stories.
For making the children alternative, the stranger said a story
about a girl named Bertha. It was an extraordinary story.
6. Bertha is a small girl, who always wore three medals of
goodness. But she has no interaction with the ordinary
people.
But at the end a wolf killed her. Her medals never help
her for escaping from the danger.
The story realizes the concept of universal brotherhood.
Creates awareness on social responsibility among
children.
7. VOCABULARY
Scultry - whether that is unpleasantly hot with no
wind.
E.g.: On a scultry day, people usually sweat a lot.
Persistent - continuing to do something although it is
difficult.
E.g.: Indians have always resisted the persistent attack
of Pakistan.

Disclosure
In paragraph 4, we hear the aunt saying the bachelor is a
hard, unsympathetic man. It means he is not sympathetic.
Similarly, if a man is not happy- he is an unhappy man. From
this we find the antonym of a word(a word with opposite
meaning) can be formed by adding “un” before it. Find out the
similar words from the passage.
