RESEARCH EXPERIENCE
Research Assistant, DoctoralResearch, Advisor: Rudolf Faust 2012-2016
Project: Synthesis, characterization and properties ofmodel thermoplastics polyurethanes(TPUs)
Synthesized polyisobutylene (PIB) diol using living cationic polymerization following with
hydroboration/oxidation and characterized PIB diol using GPC, 1
H-NMR and HPLC.
Synthesized amine terminated monodisperse hard segments containing two to four 4, 4’-Methylene
diphenyl diisocyanate units extended by 1, 4-butanediol and characterized them using 1
H,13
C-NMR.
Prepared TPUs using PIB or PTMO diol with monodisperse hard segments and studied their thermal,
morphology (AFM and SAXS) and tensile properties.
Co-projects:
Prepared monolayer poly (2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine) (PMPC) on gold using ATRP.
Studied the self-healing properties of coumarin functionalized PIB based network.
Assisted in the preparation of highly reactive polyisobutylene (PIB exo-olefin).
Research Assistant, Advisor: Prof. Lianshi Wang SCUT, Guangzhou, China 2009-2011
Project: Formulation of waterborne polyacrylates coating using solution/ emulsion polymerization
Esterification of acrylic acid with pentaerythritol or Boltorn H20 and copolymerized it with other
acrylics monomers.
Formulated and sprayed waterborne polyacrylates based automobile coating with functional additives
and tested the physical properties according to the standards.
Mentored two undergraduates to win the excellent thesis.
