Editor's Notes
We see all of this technology evolving and coming in to the industrial sector. What type of impact do we expect it to have?
One think that we can do is look at a sector that has just gone through disruption. The best example there is the retail sector.
Over the past two decades there has been massive disruption in the retail space – mostly driven by Amazon.
It started with a simple web site and the ability to order products online. But, as we all know that was just a start. Over time Amazon worked to apply net new technologies across the entire end to end operation.
It is amazing what they are doing in their factories with robotics. And, they have basically come full circle and are once again redefining the customer experience moving from a web experience to a voice experience.
But, the point here is that this type of disruption is beginning to happen in the industrial space.
Now that we are heading in to the Industrial IoT Revolution – it is really time for us to bring all of our learnings and best practices together. As a region, we need to combine our industrial knowledge with our technology knowledge. If we are able to do that then there is no reason why the Pacific Northwest cannot emerge as a dominant leader in the Industrial IoT revolution.
I would argue that we’re better positioned than Germany. We’re better positioned than China, Japan and the others. But, as they are – we need to begin attacking this opportunity together as an aligned team.
And, that is exactly why CAMPS exists today. CAMPS exists to bring us together - so that we can compete and win as a community. This is a truly massive opportunity for all of is the PNW.
