Turn dreams into reality

  1. Change Your Dreams To Reality Richard Butler -Life & BusinessCoach
  2. Make Your Dreams Happen Make your dreams happen A few days ago I talked about achieving your dreams, well I thought I would do a follow up blog post to this since it really got me thinking. Let me start off with an example. Have you ever woken up and thought “heck life is pretty good but I guess it could be better”. Suddenly you start to think and you come to the realization that there is something bugging you, something missing from your life. It’s not that there’s anything majorly wrong but you know that there is something more that you are missing out on. Sometimes I think when we have these uncomfortable feelings it’s because deep down we know we are not following our dreams Most of us had dreams when we were younger but somehow for a lot of us these dreams fell by the wayside. Maybe you wanted to be a train driver, a teacher, a space explorer. Maybe years ago your teacher said you were a good writer and you thought one day I will write a famous book. Then the pressure of school, exams and university took over and you forgot about your dream. Then with the pressure of work your dreams are truly forgotten or seen as something you had when you were a child. I am here totellyounow is the time tofollow your dreams Below I have outlined some tips that can help you follow and achieve your dreams: Here’s a question to ask yourself, “what is it that I have always wanted to do?” make sure you make a note of this. 3. Make Your Dreams Happen Commit your dreams onto paper. Buy yourself a notebook and use it to write down your dreams. With your Dream notebook in your hand, go to a park, your favorite coffee shop and sit down. Write down what your dream or dreams are. Do what I like to term a brain dump. Put everything down, at this point don’t lter anything out. Once you have a few ideas, transfer those ideas to a piece of paper that you can display prominently in the house. The above will help keep your dreams at the for front of you mind and focus youeachday Make a promise to yourself to do one thing every day to get closer to your dream. Ensure that your dreams take a high priority in your life. Don’t let anyone persuade you to give up on your dreams. Knowing what you want helps your unconscious focus and seek out ways to accomplish it. Achieving your dream can take time. Normally your dream won’t be achieved overnight so realize it might take some time to achieve your dream. Chunk down your dreams. Sometimes if a dream is too big it may seem impossible so what you must do is chunk it down. In other words break it down into smaller more manageable components. For example, if you want to move to another country to live try the following: FindOutHowNLPCanHelpYouFollowYourDreams&TurnThemIntoReality
  4. Make Your Dreams Happen Find out everything you can about the country. Discover what you need to do to live and work in that country Learn more about the rents, the people, customs etc. In short become an expert on that country Begin to plan your move carefully. Save money in order to enough together to begin the move. Each day continue to move forward and make progress towards your dream. It’s perfectly normal to modify your dream. Sometimes as you explore more about your dream you may nd that in fact you want to alter the dream or completely change it. That’s perfectly normal and ok. As you mature, and discover more about your dream you may decide it’s not for you. What seemed like a great dream can sometimes not be so once you explore it. If you nd out new information and decide the dream is not for you that’s ok too. What is important is what you have learned along the way. I often say the journey is as important, if not more important, thanthe destination. Once you know what your dream is don’t give up on it. In order to keep going we must keep following our dream. As said above if you discover your dream is not what you want just refocus and follow another dream. Everyone has the ability to realize at least one of their major dreams You deserve to achieve your dream as much as the next person. FindOutHowNLPCanHelpYouFollowYourDreams&TurnThemIntoReality
  5. MakeYour Dreams Happen Following your dream will keep you alive. All too often we have situations where something in life happens and we lose sight of our dreams. Don’t let that get you down. Remember you have one life and you have to live it. If you nd you don’t want a dream any more that’s fine, but don’t let that discourage you and give up. 6. Follow Your Dreams In this section of the report I want to show you how to follow your dreams and make your goals actionable. We all have dreams, but has the following ever happened to you? You wake up one day and feel there is just something missing? Something is not quite right in your life? You know that life is ok but you know it can be better. I believe that when you get those feelings it is your subconscious letting you know that maybe you are not following your dreams, the dreams you have thought about but then perhaps gave up on. Maybe you alway wanted to write a novel, but just felt that you did not have the time, skills or knowledge to do it. Maybe you wanted to be a thought leader but thought nobody would listen. We all have dreams, that we need to pursue as with some focus we can succeed and realise our dreams. Here are my top tips for following, and realising, your dreams. “Is there something I’ve wanted to do for a long time?” This is a question that you need to ask yourself, If the answer is yes (which I guess it will be), then you need to find out exactly what that is. Write it down – write down what your dreams are. Don’t censor this, write out everything you want to achieve. Your notebook can be a dream notebook. Keep it close and write down everything. 7. Follow Your Dreams This notebook will help you keep your dreams in an easy to reach place Take one action step each day – All it takes is one step at a time. You need to do one thing each day that will bring you closer to your goal. This is where you need to have a plan, so you know what you need to do to get you closer. Always ask yourself “is what I am doing right now getting me closer to my goal?” If the answer is no then do something else! Dreams take time – To be honest overnight success does not happen. Well it might but it takes months and months of behind the scenes work! Never give up on your dreams, you can achieve it but it takes time. Chunk down your dreams – It is impossible to make your dreams come true in one go. You need to chunk things down. Break them down into smaller more manageable mini dreams or goals. If you don’t do this you will nd it very dif cult to achieve your goal. Break everything down as much as you can. Let’s say you want to move to Barcelona to live! Here are the steps you could take: Research all you can about Barcelona Find out the jobs you could take on there Decide if you need to learn Spanish and Catalan Find out what you need to do to work there, permits etc Find an apartment See how much easier it is when you have a plan and have things chunked down? 8. Follow Your Dreams Refocusing your dream is ok – you know sometimes we think we are on the right path but then we have to make a change and go a slightly different path, but hey that’s ok. This means you are on a path to learning and developing as a person. Never feel bad about making changes to your goals. This shows you are growing. In fact sometimes when you start getting closer to your goal you realise it is not what you want. But hey that’s ok, and is quite normal. Impossible is nothing – never think that something is impossible as if you believe it is impossible then it will become true! Always open yourself up to possibilities! Maybe right now you need some more training, more focus, but if you break down your dreams/goals you can achieve it one bit at a time. One word of warningit is great to have dreams but please make sure you that you follow through on them. You see many people don’t convert their dreams into reality. By following the tips above you can make your dreams reality If you are invested in how you can change your mindset and achieve what you want I recommend this great book about getting your head around the law of attraction FindOutHowNLPCanHelpYouFollowYourDreams&TurnThemIntoReality
  9. Follow Your Dreams Ok let's get into the really important part of this report. We looked at a lot of things but now we need to expand on this. I nished my last article talking about how having a dream is important but you needed to make sure that you were able to follow through on it to make it a reality. Look, being honest with you we all have dreams but 90% of people never make this dreams a reality. However, there is good news! You can follow my steps below to make your dream become a reality. Dreams must be made into goals – A dream is just that, something nice, something lofty in the air. However a goal has a target and a timeline. This is important to have a timeline. Not only this but it must be measurable as well. How will you know when this goal has been achieved, or how close you are to achieving it? I am sure you have heard of the phrase dreams are goals without a deadline – well take this to heart! You have to make sure that you set a date for your goal, and then work backwards from that date so you can chunk down that goal! Let’s talk about the goal being measurable. For example let’s say my goal is to have a monthly income from writing books. I need to put in a speci c amount. As if I just say I want to earn more money each month, that would mean if I earned $10 more one month then my goal would have been reached! You see how not having a measure of your goal can set yourself up for failure. FindOutHowNLPCanHelpYouFollowYourDreams&TurnThemIntoReality
  10. Follow Your Dreams Once you have a timeline and something to measure your goal by then you have in place something that is going to help you prioritise. Make your goal a priority each day – Every single day you should read your goal. Of course in order to read your goals you must have them written down, either on paper or on your computer or phone screen. I personally use Notes on the iPhone to record my goals. By reading your goal everyday you actually imprint it into your mind. Your mind will then soak up these goals and will start nding ways to help you achieve your goal. You know having your goals written down also gives you the why. The why is so important – when the going gets tough you can always refer back to your why so that you get back up on the horse. Get rid of negativity – You know sometimes what holds us back from achieving our goals is negative associations we have with our goal. You may think, if I achieve my goal people are going to think X of me, or I will have Y problems. These are just excuses that you are saying and putting barriers in your way. Make a list of all the things that you think might stop you achieving your goal. Be honest, and once you have that list you can start to look at each negative item and find a way to work around it. This may be an ongoing list, as you will nd that other things pop up over time. It is good to be aware of these negative thoughts you have because once you are aware of them you can nd out how to counter act them and overcome the challenge. FindOutHowNLPCanHelpYouFollowYourDreams&TurnThemIntoReality
  11. Follow Your Dreams Let’s get positive! – ok now that you have made your list of negative points, it is time to make a list of positive points. List out everything that is going to change when you achieve this goal. Think about how achieving this goal will make you feel. How is it going to affect your life and the life of others? When you achieve this goal what is the next step? What is the next goal you can create? All of these answers will help you get energised and ready pumped up with motivation. What resources are needed to make this goal a reality? – knowing what you need to have in order to achieve the goal is really important. For example in order to achieve your goal do you need any special education, software, or other resource? It is best to know what you need now and then see if the goal can still be a reality. For example if you need a high end laptop and video camera to record your movie, is it feasible? Do you have the money to purchase all these things? If not you may need to rethink how you can get these items –perhaps from a friend or colleague? The best thing to do is to make a list of all the resources you need in order to achieve the goal. Make an inventory of your resources – Looking at the list that you created above you can now see if you can match some of the things you need to people that you know that might have them. Perhaps you have a friend who either is in possession of one of the skills or resources or knows someone that can get it. FindOutHowNLPCanHelpYouFollowYourDreams&TurnThemIntoReality
  12. Follow Your Dreams Remember that to achieve goals sometimes you will the help of other people. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Start to track – I mentioned earlier that your goal needs to be measurable, well you also need to track your progress so you can see how far you have come. If you don’t track your progress you won’t know how close you are to achieving your goal. When you track you can also decide if you need to adjust your strategy or not. Following the steps above will help you achieve your goals in a more consistent manner. However realise that creating good goals does that practice. The better goals you set and the more you do to work towards them, and the more you track the better you will get at achieving your goals.
